Auricula Theatre

Since I was hooked on primula auriculas, I always wanted to have my own display case for my auriculas.
So I asked my friend (as well as my landlord!) who’s good at DIY, if he could help me make it. He kindly said OK and let me have it in the backyard, so we started last year.
We initially thought we’d make it from scratch, but we realised it would take us longer to finish and the budget was a bit tight – so we purchased a mini shed from Greenfingers.com and had it modified as an auricula theatre……
We added extra legs in order to avoid splashing mud from the ground when it rains and to bring the top shelf to the eye level (I “mosaic-ed” his face by his request! lol)
The shelves are his original work – made slightly taller stages on the back…..
Then painted with all weather type paints…..
Ta-da! Here are the details…..
The door is also his original work – he firstly made a door frame with a sheet of MDF, then stick a sunscreen mesh on the back of the frame so the auriculas still can get ventilation but can be protected from strong wind. The door is detachable. I take it out completely when not in use.

In-genius project well executed.my only concerns would be how long they can stay in there without becoming drawn,or may be you only intend them to be there while in flower.

Thanks for your comments!
@Bjs
Good point - so I'll only display the auriculas that are flowering (from late March) in the theatre and during summer - when the sunlight becomes not so strong in autumn (October-ish), then I'll keep them in the growhouse in the sunny spot until next Spring.....I hope this method will be OK......????

I love it! What a great bit of DIY - tell you friend well done! It really looks like something from a garden design magazine.

Just seen this blog of yours, love it, may have to "wheedle" round O.H to make me something similar for my snowdrops. I was also impressed with your twin scaling blog.
