Bluebells and Surprises in Arger Fen

I recently took a trip to Britain to catch up with family, during which time we took a walk in Arger Fen, a dedicated Bluebell site.

The scent was amazing, as you can imagine, as well as the sight taking our breath away. Continuing on through the wood we found a couple of old badger setts:

and a quiet still pool

along with wild flowers enjoying the damp (VERY damp!!!) conditions

It was a lovely walk, but it was just as lovely to get back in the dry with a cuppa! Will the sun ever shine again????

Lovely photos of the Bluebells, Nariz! Around here they have been blooming as well. In our daughter's garden there are quite a few plants. I don't think she planted them but they were probably there when she moved in some years ago.

In lots of gardens around here Bluebells can be seen as well. They also grow wild & even resist the "attentions" of the local rabbit populations! They also flower in white & in pink. They are often close together.

Hope you enjoyed your time in the UK! My wife & I went to Spain at the beginning of the month for Mother's Day. We could only stay a few days but I was surprised to see just how similar the state of plants were in both places.

Yes, Balcony - had a wonderful time! Just a shame about the weather at the time! Now we're basking in glorious sunshine from dawn to dusk - why couldn't it have been when I was covered in grandchildren?! ;o)

Always the way, isn't it? We've also had glorious wall to wall sunshine & some very high temps for the last week. Reminded me a lot of the years I spent in Spain! I miss the clear, transparent skies from dawn to dusk for weeks on end! Oh, the work I could have done if I'd had an allotment in Cuenca!!!

I just love the 'tiered' effect of many veggie gardens in mountain villages in this region - brought about due to there not being many flat areas! ;o)

I spoke too soon yesterday! Today the temps have dropped quite a bit & we saw NO sunshine till after 3pm.

Yesterday evening we had a small thunderstorm & were forecast more for today but they didn't turn up! Temps now in decent for the next few days.

We were supposed to have rain and possibly a storm yesterday evening, but neither turned up - that means my day is already mapped out .... watering! Not that I mind - it's one of the most therapeutic jobs I know!

We were supposed to get a thunderstorm, too - we had a couple of crashes and a short, not very sharp shower, and that was it! So, wet washing and I still had to water everything!

Today the warm weather returned! But is supposed to get cooler by Friday & the weekend is forecast to be cooler, around 16C! 10C than we have been having recently!

We had a brief shower today while I was on the allotment. I was able to get done a few tasks in the greenhouse I'd been putting off for a rainy day - no excuse then today! LOL!

We've got a fine old mixture of weather to look forward to over the next 10 days - sun, rain, thunder & lightning, low cloud, and, horror of horrors, only 20°c next Monday. By the end of next week, though, when our visitors are due and we're planning a birthday tea for friends in the garden under the cherry tree, it should be back up round about 26°c. Hooray! It does make housework and the great pile of ironing I've been saving up doubly irksome, though. :o(
