Garden Thief and Weeding Workouts !!!

It keeps steeling all my time !

I only went out for a wander, to see what blooms were out in the evening sun. That was two hour ago, where did 120 minutes go, where did the last of the sun disappear…am I in a time warp ?

An evening of dead heading, watering, weeding and tying back has left me more hot and ‘glowing’ than any zumba class and I feel great for it.

With 6 stone to lose every calorie spent counts, have decided that the more time I spend in the garden, the less time I spend eating…who knows I could bring out a gardening workout DVD….now lets lunge and pick up those clippings !

I find gardening is very relaxing, good for reducing stress levels.
Good luck with the calorie burning its hard work losing weight and as you say gardening takes your mind off it and uses energy. I do hope you have a good support net work.
I use an on line site that lets me enter everything I am going to eat that day and I then find I can adapt it to keep me on calorie target.

Always use a long handled tool if possible to save back
problems.

Lol. Think we all have done that, gone out just to water and end up suddenly realising that hours have passed. :-)

Pleased to hear that you are enjoying your gardening, it's amazing, as you say, how much time just disappears when you get interested in the garden. Not only does it keep you occupied and moving but gives you time to notice all the little things that live in the garden - beetles, hover flies, caterpillars, lizards, plus of course all the nasties like Lily beetle, slugs and snails. The slugs and snails do have a use, hedgehogs and Thrushes will eat them, but I haven't found anything that eats the Lily beetle yet!
Any amount of exercise will start to burn those calories, with all the horrendous heat and amount of sweating (ladies don't sweat, they perspire!) I have been doing over the last few days I should have lost a stone at least, but it doesn't seem to have happened.

Well you are well and truly hooked aren't you! 6 stone is a fantastic target - good luck with that - your garden should look amazing by the time its all gone. Gardening is a much better way to lose it than dieting.(During a recent bout of illness I lost a stone and a half over about six weeks - poor skin couldn't shrink fast enough and now there are wrinkles.) Going up and down your slope will give you impressive stamina too - carry on with the good work - looking forward to the next photos.

There isn't such a thing as a quick look around the garden. Sometimes I'm afraid to go and look at the garden, as it just highlights more jobs! Good luck with the weight loss.

Thanks everyone - I daren't go out there tonight, I am supposed to be going out and I reckon I should try and do it without mud under my nails for a change ! lol :)

Certainly had mud under mine at choir last night -its what comes of being out there until the last minute.

I know it keeps me fit. Sometimes cutting hedges is hard work......I don't put that under 'enjoyment,' but the rest is wonderful. Enjoy your garden.
