its been far to long...

Hello everyone !

I’m so sorry for being so rude and having been away for o long.

I had a heart attack…44 years old and I had a heart attack!

I have said before that I am overweight BUT this was a massive shock and to b honest I have been in a state of denial with a splash of sulking thrown in for good measure.

Don’t get me wrong I am not being flippant – I guess I was just being a bit childish and acting up…sulking that I thought I was invincible.

I have had a more positive appointment with my Dr now and today I have had a busier day in the garden…exerted myself a bit more and felt more comfortable with being little out of breath.

Its scary stuff this heart business…but fingers crossed I will now put my health up there with my dahlias and be kinder to me !

I hope you are all very well, I have missed you all dearly!

NAT

I'm very sorry to hear this - and that's very young indeed, specially for a woman to have a heart attack. Is there a familial connection with high cholesterol by any chance?

I know what a shock it is - it happened to one of my sisters at 50 - she seems to have inherited a slightly different gene from me because she has a big cholesterol problem, though she was also smoking at the time. My cholesterol's high, but hers is ridiculously high... She, too, was disbelieving, grumpy and shocked...it takes time to get used to a new reality. Strikes me as somewhat unfair - she gave up smoking for 13 years previously, I've never stopped and am older than her, but, so far, no heart attack... nothing fair about life, is there, really.

I wish you well, take care

I'm sorry to hear you had a heart attack but glad your doctor has made you feel positive.
Take care, and I hope to see you on here again soon :)

that is a shock but you have been given another chance so don't waste it. get out and get healthy with the help of your lovely garden.

Hi NAT! I was wondering where you had got to! Please take care of your self. What a terrible shock for you. I really hope that you can find a way forward to a healthier future...one step at a time! Welcome back :)

Speaking as one who has had two heart attacks over five years, I would urge you to take on board all the help and advice the Cardiology team are, hopefully, giving you. The British Heart Foundation are a great source of information regarding living with a heart condition and, if you haven't done so already, sign up on-line for their newsletter where you will find advice on eating and exercise.

I was always told that a little exercise daily, enough to make you 'pink and puffy', was the right way to go! I am about to finish my 8 week Cardiac Rehab. programme, all courtesy of our wonderful NHS.

I wish you well NAT and feel free to PM me if you would like to ask any questions or just have a chat ... take care.

Oh NAT what a shock, but glad you are on the mend, take it slow, and take care of yourself,I wish you all the very best.

What a shock for you. In a positive way, it has given you a timely warning and you can do something about it. My mum had a heart attack in her early 40's and a triple hear bypass when she was 45. She's 72 years old and still going strong. Still smoking ?? cigarettes a day as well! Wishing you a full and speedy recovery.

I've given you a like for getting back on track as regards your thoughts, a heart attack is enough to make anyone angry at life and I know how it can make you sulky and even a tad childish Nat,your emotions would have been all over the place, my hubby had his just before his 60th birthday, its very scary and feels like the end of the world, he was rushed to Papworth twice within two weeks, however within 7wks he was back at work, he also had aftercare at the Rehab Centre as Shirley has just said about, just celebrated his 70th and still hasn't retired, you were very young but these things don't care what your age is, follow all the advice you are given and learn what your limits are so you do not overdo things, its in your own hands to take care of yourself now.. I wish you well, onwards and upwards Nat, xx

Hello Nat

Welcome back, Nat. Sorry to hear about your health problems and glad you are well on the road to recovery. There is a lot of help "out there" and the BHF is a reliable source of information. We are very fortunate to have our NHS so do listen to what the Heart Nurse and your specialist tell you!

Read about Lisam's mum : she's certainly an inspiration, apart from the cigarettes!! :O)

All the very best.

I think Lisam's mum is a total inspiration, made me smile broadly - plucky lady, heart bypass, but carrying on smoking and making it to 72, good for her.

HI Nat, good to see you back, I wondered where you were. That must have been a great shock and its good to hear you are back on your feet. I gave you a like to welcome you back, not for your news! Mind you look after yourself now!

Horrible thought, and you are so young to have to start worrying about heart problems! Hopefully it's sorted now, the wonders of modern medicine will keep it at bay. Wake up time when something like that happens, makes us all realise that we are not invincible. Keep well and don't overdo it.

I HAD a nice patch of Black Eyed Susans until Hurricane Nate came barreling through one night....Now I have nothing!

Sorry to read this I have a friend who was the same age as you, and indeed a massive shock!! she is doing well though changed her diet, light exercise and no smoking........it is possible to live to a ripe old age if you take it easy and listen to the Docs, they really do know best.....good to see you are taking a positive attitude...all the best.

I am so sorry Nat. I have only just seen this blog. Due to working from home, the internet hub is in the workshop and the only place in the house I get a signal is in the conservatory and it's too cold to sit in, in the winter month.

I am so sorry to hear about your heart attack. That must have been SO scary for you and your family. Thank God you are on the mend and it sounds from your latest blog you are starting to come to terms with it. Well done You!!!! To have a heart attack at any time must be hard, but to have one so young must really mess with your head. Take things easy, look after your self. Jen x
