Just had a drop too much!!!!!!

This is what I came home to today:-

It has stopped raining now, but think we had that much that the fish pond overflowed and drained down the slope into the bottom of the garden – hope the fish don’t find their way out.

Hope all you guys are not too badly hit by all the rain that has dropped on our lovely gardens today. Keep Safe and Keep Dry!

It will Sticki, no damage really done, but it is so disappointing not to be able to get out in the garden to play. lol. We have lots more rain forecast for the weekend, but the sun is shining now so that is nice to see. Off to have a wander if I can find a dry path to put my feet on.

dont go out in your slippers!!!

Funnily enough that is just what the O H said tonight when I came home before I had seen it, he knows just what I am like lol. :O)

Sorry Olive but I`m laughing cos I had to bale out in my back today before it came over the doorstep, when I went down the garden about 6ish my bottom pond had done exactly the same as yours, my worry was the poor tadpoles, luckily the top pond is controlled through the filter so it doesn`t happen to that one so my fish are safe..

i go out in my slippers all the time!!

has any of your water drained away yet olive? or lincs?

6 Jul, 2012

Glad you can be so upbeat about it Olive - not that you have much choice.lol.
Do you think there is much chance of using that barbeque in the next few weeks - oh I do hope so.

Oh dear whatever next I wonder?!

The south west is yet again on a severe weather warning for heavy rain!! I just can't believe it really!!!

6 Jul, 2012

Oh no Olive so sorry to hear this.

Down south really getting it bad.

Hot and humid with us no rains yet.

Take care.

Yay, I have sunshine 8.20pm and yes Sticki, the footpath is showing again and the edge of the pond is now visible, I live on a hill as well and my neighbour has a duckpond in his garden, normally its all grass, lol.....

6 Jul, 2012

lol :O) Think there are lots of people underwater but it is ok it is draining away slowly Sticki, suppose it is getting ready for the next downpour. lol. We are all ok and no damage done and that is all that matters, there are lots of people with water in their homes and I can only imagine what that must be like.
Stroller we haven't had a bbq all year, my daughter keeps saying when do you think it will be fit to have one. I just keep hoping, we had one for six a-side last weekend at cricket so suppose that might be it for a while. lol.
Hope you miss it Wildrose, although looking at the forecast you look like you will get it too. Sharing it out I suppose. Hope you do not get it Scotkat, it has been awful. It is quite humid with it as well, we had storms the other night. Same here Lincslass, although it is clouding over again just now 8.45pm. Hope you all stay rain free if only for 1 evening it will help with the water getting away. Keep safe even if you cannot keep dry. x B

Our family Jubilee BBQ is still in our various freezers, I keep telling son-in-law we are going to fit it in before the year ends lol...

6 Jul, 2012

I am sure you will Lincslass, we shall have to put all the brollies up and the wellies on and just have it in the rain. As my O H says the water always stops when it gets to your skin. but he is a crackpot most of the time. lol.

6 Jul, 2012

O, my goodness! sorry to see this Barbara :(((

6 Jul, 2012

Still lovely photos Olive. I think cricket is off for my Oh tomoz although he says it will be ok x

6 Jul, 2012

I know Michaella it looks worse than it is though, it is draining away now. Hoping for a bit less water tomorrow. :o)

Thanks Annella, we are not expecting to play cricket but will check again in the morning, the cricket wickets were flooded this afternoon and unless we get some wind and sunshine in the next 12 hours we will be off too. Poor lads they so look forward to playing their cricket matches, it is such a shame when they work hard all week and their fun is rained off.
:o((((

If my pond floods, it will all run in to the neighbour's garden....eeeeeek....they are away this weekend, so phew for that! The rain is due here tonight, but we actually had warmth and some sun today so I didn't stay in to watch the tennis. I put on my new summer dress and shoes and took Rachel out for lunch at the Botanic Gardens. Then we went shopping and then I found out that Novak had lost and I must admit a little swear word escaped from my lips! But then Andy Murray won, so that was ok, I suppose, but I can't see him beating Federer......but you never know. Bought 2 more Astilbes at B&Q (2 for a tenner, within the budget ;) as they are the pretty much the only thing thriving in this....well there is the water plants in the pond and the Zantedeschia...they are all doing well, but everything else is late and struggling and my patio is getting greener every day.

Oh Dear Olive I hope you have good drainage, its been non stop rain here too for the past week, but luckiily havent had any flooding, just battered and water logged pllants, but not complaining considering other parts of the country, but we are all due some nice dry weather with some warm sunshine too ;0))

Whoopsy, that's a bit wet. it looks as though someone left the hosepipe on. Hopefully it will drain away okay. Jx

Hi everyone - yes it is draining away quickly, until the next lot comes down today and tomorrow. lol.

Karen I am still not able to get out to a GC Sarah still not able to sit. She is now walking a few steps but the damage is to her pelvis hence the walking and sitting is just so painful for her. She is getting better but it is a slow old job. The bank balance looks good though so every cloud has a silver lining lol. even if it is full of water lol.

The sun is trying to get out but it is just creating mist and more cloud dont think I shall be doing cricket teas today somehow. Ah well I can watch Wimbledon on tv. it will make a change from watching cricket. :o) keep dry everyone.

7 Jul, 2012

ps: just had a look out in the garden, (in my slippers) lol and it has all drained away, yay!!!! very wet still but no puddles.

7 Jul, 2012

Great news. At least all the reservoirs will be full you would think. Callum posted photos of himself riding with the teenagers in the sunshine.....some people have all the luck don't they. Three months of sun he's getting...not 3 hours, not 3 days, not 3 weeks.......no...lucky so and so!

7 Jul, 2012

He is lucky so we will have to be jealous and even more jealous. Glad he is ok and enjoying himself. Say Hi from me to both of them. :O)

Reservoirs are full and overflowing. Never seen so much rain water. I ran into a large hole last night coming home from Sarah's and punctured my tyre. Had to call out the AA in the pouring rain lol. he was brilliant only took them 30 minutes to get to me and 10 minutes to fix it all. It poured it down all the time he was doing it. lol. where would we be without them.

7 Jul, 2012

Sorry to see what the rain has done to your lovely garden it has been shocking hasn't it hopefully it will drain away soon and it won't ruin your plants!

7 Jul, 2012

Mum, first pic top right...which Heuchera please? It looks ayyymayyyzing!

7 Jul, 2012

After all yesterdays rain and more overnight we had a lovely sunny morning and I even cut my lawns, also been popping a few leftover plants in the gaps, very soggy but I still got the job done, however its been raining on and off since about 2pm, Battle Proms up at Burghley tonight so I`m hoping it stays fine for a while at least, I`m hoping to listen as we can usually hear the music and watch the fireworks from our garden, I have pizza, lager and crisps on standby as I`m on my own so a bit of spoiling is due, lol...

7 Jul, 2012

Nana_d think we have acclimatised to it all now, pretty boring this weather isn't it, but today we had sunshine until after noon and then a storm came over and it rained hard cleared up and sun shone then more rain, now the sun is shining again. Ah well ................think it thinks it is April.

Karen I cannot remember which one it is will check it out tomoz cos I am off out for supper with Paul now, yum yum, this is what you have to do when cricket is cancelled. :o)

7 Jul, 2012

Enjoy yourself Lincslass, we had much the same sort of weather here in Gainsborough, sunny at the minute though. I am off out for a meal next so I am spoiling myself as well. :O))))))))))

7 Jul, 2012

Good for you! Sorry to hear about the puncture. Thank goodness for nice AA people!

7 Jul, 2012

yes they are a great service to have and they were very quick.Used to belong to a different one and they were rubbish. So have been with them for a number of years now, I cannot change the wheel on my car the nuts are too tight for me to turn the spare has never been on before which is pretty amazing cos the car is 10 years old.

Hi Karen, the one on the right of the two is 'Prince' and the one to the left of the picture is 'Can Can'. They have done really well in their pots. Much more growth than the ones in the garden have put on, but after saying that only got 'Prince' up in the old plum tree border and it is very packed in with other plants up there. Maybe that is why. Got these Heuchera from Bressingham Gardens web site if that is of any help.

8 Jul, 2012

Yes, that's a great help, thanks! :D

I'm a couple of days late coming on your blog, but nothings changed. A lovely day yesterday, followed by more wet weather and another wet week forecast. I hope you're garden is ok now and that it didn't reach inside your home, Barbara.

8 Jul, 2012

No problems Rose, we are all dry at home, only surface water, gone away now and quite a nice day here, showers earlier on but I stayed out in it (brave girl) got wet but managed to get my weeding done in the veggie garden. It looks better for it. Must go out and spray it for white fly though, pesky little things they are.

8 Jul, 2012

Same here Barbara, I just go out in it now, even my little granddaughter told me off today, saying " come inside now Grandma, You're getting wet". Bless her.

9 Jul, 2012
