New Year's Day 2010

Every New Year’s Day we go down to the most southerly point of Cornwall called The Lizard. It’s a sort of pilgrimage realy, no particular reason, to see maybe a few seals, choughs, the views.
Well, I’m fibbing realy, there is this tatty cafe, weatherbeaten is the word, that sells the most wonderful cream cakes & freshly caught fish, crab jacket potatoes, etc.

After, we decide to take a little stroll, and this year as you will see from a few of the photo’s it could have been any other hot country. The sky was as blue as blue & the sea so calm.
But some years we’ve hardly been able to keep the car door open, for the wind & rain.

See how crowded the car park is, Also, as I said before the sky is blue, but look at my husband, huddled with the cold, as in fact in some places there was frost on the ground.

This last photo is the lighthouse, which on some days it’s a different picture. Dark, grey, galeforce winds & the lighthouse booms about every minute. Warning all shipping of the treacherous rocks around.
This was our lovely day 1/1/2010 but, this night we had our first sprinkling of snow. See forthcoming blog. Happy New Year everyone. :o))
