Or “Exploring gardeners’ worlds with Gardener’s World”
Here’s a list of the plants that were featured on BBC Gardener’s World yesterday. Something Spritz said about rushing to write down all the featured plants made me think I’d list them each week and then I missed last Friday’s show – oops. However, yesterday I remembered my plan :o).
As I wrote them down I started looking at who’s growing them on GoY and AndrewR’s garden seems very similar to this week’s Gardeners World, with 3 of the featured roses!
I’m sure you won’t be surprised to hear there are some great pics so I’ve added links as well as plant names so you can see who else is growing them and start exploring Grows on You gardeners’ worlds :o)
The sunflower Alys planted was Helianthus annuus ‘Pastiche’
Toby’s quick fix for patios featured:
New Zealand Flax – seems to apply to plants in the genus Phormium see Phormium tenax, Phormium purpurea and Phormium cookianum.
There were so many roses in the rose section…
’Paul’s Himalayan Musk’
‘Duc de Guiche’
Rosa Mundi – Rosa gallica ‘Versicolor’ – in AndrewR’s garden
‘Madame de la Roche-Lambert’
‘Tuscany Superb’ – AndrewR’s tuscany superb
‘Nuits de Young’
‘Augutse Gervais’
‘Madame Louis Leveque’
The rose that Toby planted:
White Japanese Rose – Rosa rugosa ‘Alba’ (AndrewR has this too in his GoY garden)
Potatoes that were planted:
Potato ‘Swift’
Potato ‘International Kidney’ (syn. Jersey Royal)
Potato ‘Maris peer’
Potato ‘Maris piper’
Yesterday’s show featured a lot about growing your own veggies and raised beds – I was very jealous of the kitchen garden that was featured. If you’re thinking about raised beds, check out you what other members have been doing with theirs on our raised beds page.
The BBC are also giving away free seeds as part of a ‘Dig in’ campaign – you can find details on how to get yours on the BBC website.
I’ll blog next week too and see who’s growing the featured plants again :o)

Last night was a treat, particularly with those roses - a couple of which are on my wish list.
I'm glad they've pushed Alys into doing more of the presenting and enjoy the relationship she and Toby are developing.
Then over to BBC4 for a double helping of Sissinghurst - not too much on the garden but veryinteresting. I never realised Sarah Raven was such a bossyboots - or that she was married to Vita Sackville-West's grandson.

Good idea to list these plants Peter. Thank you. I often forget them. I keep going to tape the prog or write them down but never get round to it.

Thanks everyone, I'll do the same next week too, seems like it's useful for UK and non - UK too :o)
Clarice - I've added the sunflower (Helianthus annuus 'Pastiche') that Alys planted, I must have put the kettle on when that was shown.
Wagger - I like the four they have at the moment and really enjoy watching Carol. Alys is my favourite though - transparent, me?!
AndrewR - You're welcome, it seemed every time I looked at a plant you were there - maybe GW should stand for GoY World :o)

Have you received your seeds yet, Pepperpot? I completed the online form during the programme, but was puzzled because the webpage seemed to say they would only be forwarded if ordered by post ?!?
