I've looked.....the next photo is of a Common Blue. This one looks like a Brown Argus to me......if the two photo's are of the same butterfly.....just proves I know little about them !! I'm off to sulk.

I've looked at both pictures, read all the comments and still don't know what it is, Gee - am I missing something?

Sorry, Wagger. This photo and the next one are of the same butterfly! I think it is a common blue (just from looking on Google). It was small, probably about half the size of a Peacock. The wing colour outside was very different to inside and does, as Phil suggested, look very similar to a Brown Argus! This is probably as clear as mud, I'm not very good at explaining :)

Not well named at all in my view - that comes nowhere near describing such a beautiful creature, blue yes, common? NO!!!!!!
