I sat next to this, David - the Heuchera are in a wonderful terracotta pot! I wanted to take it home, but nasty Louise wouldn't let me! Boo hoo!!

It's 22" diameter and 20" deep and just begs to be the centre of attention :)
I like the colours of the Heuchera in it but maybe in time i'll plant something different, they've been in there for about a year now and i still love the look !
It's not the type of pot that just houses a few annuals !

When i get fed up of seeing the Heucheras in there i'll start to consider new things !!!

What would you choose David ?

Hmmmmm. I'd probably be boring, and put in a multi-striped Phormium, such as "Rainbow Queen", or a nice large specimen of Uncinia rubra, or a rusty-coloured Carex, and have dark trailers, such as the Ajuga reptans "Mahogany" and Sedum "Voodo" I have in my garden. Don't think these would need too much watering, either. :-) (Talk about being "put on the spot", haha!

This is a picture Louise that confirms an impression I have. They like the place more or less to themselves, and lots of lovely soil to really get nice and large. I have seen other pictures of them in the ground with a top dressing of grit......very effective. I have no room for that. I have a lovely big pot lined up, when the worn out old fuschia goes and the moss and weeds. Thanks for the inspiration.

I planted up my big big pot. At the moment it doesn't look anything. There are two sorry looking Heucheras in residence (Caramel and Sparkling Burgundy) that weren't doing very well. So for now they have to share space with 2 begonias(semi trailing). A tiny fuschia that might hopefully be grown to a standard, and some crocus bulbs from the old planting. Fingers crossed.
My pot is terracotta too. So far survived being frost damaged
