Deida - it's the wallaby in charge. The ducks will willingly leave their food when the wallaby arrives and then sneak in later.

Louise - you might like the koalas more. There aren't any living around here except in our local wildlife sanctuary - but they are definitely cute, especially when they're sleeping which they seem to do a lot.

BB, Youngdaisydee, Clarice and Newfienurse - I'm a big fan of these Agile Wallabies. They are quite placid creatures - especially the females which we mostly get in our yard - and I just love the little joeys.

Heather - I don't actually know what type of ducks these are. We've had them for years and I've never even wondered what they are!

Pip c - we're very lucky ... these Agile wallabies come visiting every day. It's rather unfortunate that suddenly a couple of them have developed a taste for flowers as well as grass. Up to now they've been quite well-behaved visitors, but now I'm getting grumpy as my flowers are disappearing!!

Oh very good - great work, Lindak! Wish I had the talent to put words together like that in a rhyme - it would be a great entertainment for the grandkids!

Thanks Bernieh, I started writing after the age of 40 and have over 40 poems in different books, 5 childrens stories in with other childrens stories in books and have just written some stories about Twinkle my 1 eyed Siamese cat to raise money for the CPL at Dalberry Lees as she is a rescue cat and thought I'd help them out.

It's lovely to hear you're using your talent and sharing it with others. How fantastic to get your work published!!

I don't receive any payment because there are too many contributors to the books but at least my work is being read by others. I sometimes make these leaflet poems books and story books at home to help raise money for others who need it.

It's a shame you don't receive something ... but I suppose it's exciting to know your work is being read out there.

I'm happy with what I have and contented inside and to me that's everything. I enjoy my writing Bernieh and my painting and especially the gardening with all the wildlife. It's nice to have enough money to live comfortably with but money doesn't give you permanent happiness. It can satisfy you with pleasure when you buy things but that doesn't neccessarily last. Happiness comes from within the heart.

Bernieh when we got married in the 60's we had a house going through on the IOWight and it all fell through at the last minute and we had nowhere to go as we'd both given up our jobs to go there, Gerry's aunt had a guest house that was full as it was the height of the season so we lived in the garden shed and slept on a double blow up lilo and had a 12 and 6 pence plastic wardrobe that we hung from the shed ceiling and had the use of the bathroom and kitchen in the hotel. We lived like this for 3 months. It taught us that possessions aren't important. It's how you feel about others and we survived together and bought our first home. Even then it was orange boxes as cupboards for a while.

You're so right Lindak ... it's a lesson my husband and I learned very early on too. My hubbie was working two jobs (lowly paid ones) and I was looking after two babies (they were only 13 months apart) and we could no longer afford to pay rent. My hubbie's beautiful mum and dad took us in but they only had a 2 bedroom house and there were already 5 of them living there. We survived in a corner of the sleepout with two cots and an old beat-up sofa for 9 months. It was crowded, noisy and you had absolutely no privacy at all - but I ended up closer to my hubbie's family than my own!

When we finally moved out into our first tiny home, we had no furniture except what we got from the St. Vinnie's crew - a bed, a cupboard and an old rocking chair ... and the two cots we already had. No curtains, no fridge for a while, no dining table or chairs .... and so on. My kids were too young to remember all that, but I often tell them the story when they think they've got it bad! Doesn't always go down well however!

Today things are a lot easier but I'd hate to think how some of the younger ones would cope if life took a turn for the worse. They'd have to learn the hard way.

Sometimes what the younger generation thinks is 'life taking a turn for the worse' doesn't seem that way at all to me! I think they have a far more comfortable life and are sometimes just not prepared to do it hard! Oh dear, I really do sound like my Gran!!

Agree fully. I sound like.....get the violin out and remember the past.

I know ... dreadful isn't it when you start sounding exactly like your Gran. Of course that doesn't mean we're not very very wise!!

As you walk through life, you make mistakes and share with people what they have gone through and that's where you learn how to cope with each situation and from that I have found you can help sort situations out, just like our grans and mums did.
