Autumn Birch and Black Spruce

The snow has almost gone for now, though it'll return very soon I'm sure. I love it with this autumn color still around!

Thanks guys. :-) The autumn was very quick with snow coming already. Almost gone today but we wont see the warm side for many months.

Sandra, too bad you didn't have the camera. I love all the colors there, with so many different deciduous trees! We go gold and then white. :-)

I love the snow too Ali, I hadn't realized how much til this one, it was like a visit from an old friend I'd missed. :-)

I have seen this event, snow with fall leaves, while traveling through Snoqualmie Pass in late October..it is so brilliant with the blue sky...this is very cozy looking..break out the firewood and warm drinks..

Yes, Cat, I love snow in fall. Snoqualmie pass is the perfect place to see it! Me and the hubby have gone right back into hot cocoa every night. :-)

Thank you Aleyna. That one was just for you. :-) We'll have more to share soon enough. :-)

Yummm sounds perfect! How on earth can you get away with it every night?! LOL...must be that extra chill in the air... :) and all the wood chopping perhaps..? Send photos's of fire and hot chocolate please..lol...oh and throw an African Violet or some houseplant in too.. :)

lol, that I'll have to do. :-) We are sitting a nice big place with a fire in december. Wish I had a fire here, but rentals don't usually have fireplaces anymore. Alaska consumes more ice cream per capita than most other states. :-) Wonder if thats true of hot cocoa too.

I will wait till December then...I have no fire here either..a little chimerie outside and a wood stove in the garage..but that is about it..I plan to use my little solar heater I bought at Costco..it is so nice in the winter...almost like a fire....will have to limit my hot cocoa consumption in front of it how ever....will pick one day a week...
I have heard that when eating ice cream it actually causes your body to turn up the heat so that is most likely why..and hot drinks tend to cause your body to turn down the heat a bit..hmmmmm...why then do I get cold and chilly after I have eaten ice cream...? I bet it is from holding the container..lol..now I have given myself away! Eating right out of the carton like that.... :o)

lol.....I've had plenty an instance right from the container Cat...lol. I always feel cooler as well. :-) Hot cocoa and I start steaming from the top of my head. ~:-) lol

Do you use skis or ski bikes to get around on when the real thick snow reaches you?

5 Oct, 2009

Yes, many do ski as I do. More though run snowmachines. I like the silent recreation, the snowmachines are a little too much noise and speed for me. I don't go as remote as would require something like that.

Snow shoes GT? I have always wondered how well they work......cross country skiing would be about it for me..not good at all at downhill...

5 Oct, 2009

Its all cross country around here. And so much country to explore! Snowshoes work very well. Just alot to lug around when you can ski. They are a little more reliable where the snow is more dense, here it is more like sand in the subzero's and you end up sifting through the top layers. But some people do it anyway.
