That is a lovely patch. The soil looks a lot like mine at the moment - dry as a bone. Seems you haven't had much rain lately.

People were complaining here what a wet summer it was - I beg to differ! We would have a day or two of torrential rain then nothing for days. Because my garden is on a slope it dries out really fast at the top.

Have a similar problem Gillian - I'm on the side of a rocky slope and during the 'wet' which is late summer, the water just pours down our yard and really only touches the surface unless it rains for days on end! Showers do nothing at all for my garden.

Still a lovely scene even dry. Looks very nice. Could try forming a well around each plant so the water is caught and directed to the roots. May help.

Good idea! If we end up staying I think I'll try that.
