These are the yellowy-green flowers shaped a bit like pom-poms.

Really unusual, almost look like furry caterpillars.

Simbad - they do a bit don't they. This is a large tree and when these flowers drop there's a huge furry carpet all over the ground.

For some reason they made me think of cockatoo heads, not caterpillars! Nice.

Antigone - no scent ... but they certainly attract the bees! Apparently the nectar from these flowers produces a very light honey which the beekeepers rather like.

Thanks Pansypotter - the flowers don't show up that well in the photos as they have such a green tinge to them so get lost amongst the leaves.
