If you get Niger seed in a feeder Gee they will come, it is expensive but worth it.

I bought some niger seed, Bobg, but only the sparrows are eating it! Most of the time its hanging there neglected :(

Thats strange, niger is the staple food of goldfinch and so its like a magnet usually, maybe the sparrows are keeping the finch away.

I wonder if perhaps there are none in this area. I do have chaffinches and, once, a bullfinch, so I will keep trying :)
Wilkinsons had a large bag of niger seed for £1.99 last week which I thought was a bargain compared to our local pet shops (so I bought one)!!

Thanks for all the nice comments guys Gee I never had them visit my feeders untill I started to use nigar seeds,maybe you dont have any in your area....but you still get some nice birds in your garden....I dont get any chaffinches......

I have got sunflower hearts on my shopping list for tomorrow, Sanbaz, as I remembered you saying that before :) It's definitely worth a try.

Good bargain there Gee, I did spot that one but our local Wilkies had sold out and did'nt know when they were getting any more in as it was so close to ....... er that 'C' word day :o)
Yes it could be that there are none in the area at the moment but keep trying they may get wind of your seeds.

Awwww thats a pity Sandra ,they are lovely bird,they still might visit you......I would love a woodpecker but they never come near my feeders.....
