Amazing plant!

It really is an amazing plant, Michaella. I've got two of these beauties and they've both been sending up their new growth which always looks so spectacular with that silvery green colour.

Bernieh:
Cycads are amazing conifers!
How many flushes of growth per year does your Sago
Palms have?
30 Oct, 2009
Usually only the one Andy - but this year it's been two .... maybe it was the record rain we had at the beginning of the year. Before that we were having a record run of drought years.

Bernieh:
It's the same here...some cycads will have from 1 to 3 flushes of growth a year...depending on genus and species. Overall most cycads they are slow growers.
Cycas circinalis is the fastest and most tropical in
that genus.

Yes I rather like them - they seem to have a much finer leaf and those nice long stems/stalks.

Bernieh:
If you're referring to Cycas circinalis - Queen Sago...it is probably my favorite cycad because it grows quickly and is very lush. There's some pretty tall specimens in San Diego. I've posted some in the past.

It's spectacular. What is the texture of the leaf? It almost looks like a fern.

Claireinbude - the leaves on this beauty are quite leathery and stiff and the ends are very sharp ... I try very hard not to brush up against it when I'm passing - this can be difficult because it's right beside the steps up to the driveway!

Thanks for that Bernieh. Interesting. It looks so much softer.

Gosh this is fantastic! Obviously you need the right climate to have such a beautiful break - combined with tlc of course. Well done, I'm hugely envious!
