Dried Alliums "Dressed" for Winter

Our dried Allium "Beau Regard" were spray-painted today in shades of copper, metallic gold, and a shade called "chocolate" (of course!). :-))

Haha, Tt! You did suggest that I do one in a choc shade ages ago - so have!

Violet Beauregarde has been turned into a round chocolate, lol!!!

Colour here doesn't do full justice to the real festive colours, though! :-(

The big one is a lump of brown sugar, two ones are cups of hot chocolate and the last one is a bar of dark chocolate! Everything is so beautiful and tasty as ever...:) Brilliant idea!

I think you just wrote the real description for our alliums, Uma! :-))

Thanks All! Hoping to do similar with poppy seed heads next year. :-)

I love your spray painting,David,I would never have thought of doing that with mine.Does it also help to stop bits dropping off,and the seeds falling out,as they are very brittle when dry.I have been known to spend a boring afternoon, poking some of the seeds out with a pin,as fed up with them on the floor. What is that you are saying? get a life?Sorry, but I can be a very sad person at times. Its STILL better than working.Hehe.

Hi Bloomer maybe I should "get a life" too, lol! Most of the seedheads dropped off during the drying-out process. I meticulously "scanned" the carpet every day, collecting them up to save for sowing in Spring. I got the spray-painting idea originally from my Mum, who used to same with her Allium christophiii heads. They survived being put away and brought back out every Christmas. I think spray-painting does make them tougher. I sprayed the heads and upper stems first. When dry, I stood them on their heads and did the lower ends of the stems. They did not flatten or break at all. :-))

Thanks David. Will have a go.I didn't save any of my seeds,as I am too impatient to wait for them to flower.I believe they take a long time.It is a bit of a chore, always picking the seeds up,as you find them everywhere.Sooo
glad I'm not the only one who has their head buried in the carpet!! :o)))
But better than in the sand?lol
