It's gorgeous. Hmm ... local-ish! Sounds like you might have driven far and wide on the off chance you might spot one!

its about 10 miles away and there are 5 within 5 miles of where i live but they tend to be very predictable in the plants they sell. this other one sometimes has more unusal species. We have a lovely independant one 3 miles away but I was on route elsewhere and persuaded hubby to let me have a browse.

I bought this one around a month ago SBG I love it too, also another called 'five color', saw another recently and wish I'd bought it, it was called 'blackberry and apple pie' had green leaves flushed red, red stems and white flowers, will have to go back and get it :-)
A lot of nursery's are like that round here SBG nice when you find one that sells plants a bit different have a couple of favourites though not too far away, one called 'Hall Farm' that has amazing garden you can look round free and most plants you see in the garden can be bought in the nursery, owner is lovely friendly lady who's very helpful, also has a forge where they make garden ornaments etc to order.

I have Black Ruby too....bought it about 3 years ago. It is quite slow growing but appreciated when there's not much else in flower. I got Blackberry and Apple Pie at Harrogate this year and the leaves and stems are very pretty.

What a lucky girl you are - everything comes to those who look, lol. I covet this too but am surrounded by Wyvales and Notcutts. Anything more interesting requires an expedition.

Have you tried some of the on-line nurseries Wagger?
31 Dec, 2009
Yes, I have Alice but it's an expensive way of buying unless you have a few plants you want grown in one nursery - postage/delivery charges being what they are! Also I do prefer to see plants I'm buying except in cases of specialist nurseries far away.

yes I agree wagger, i much prefer to see what I am spending my hard earned cash on.
My all time fav gc/nursery is up by filey and they grow lots from seed so you can pick up plants from 50p each to the more established and unusual at a higher price of course.

South Bucks is like a black hole as far as nurseries are concerned, Sea - only one within reasonable distance (in Oxfordshire) and I've had a few unexplainable 'losses' from there.

Oh what a shame Janey, sorry you had a wasted journey, after me recommending it too, know its closed at weekends, wonder if it closes in winter? know a couple round here that do, although doesn't say on website, never been this time of year before, don't suppose there's a lot to see in their garden at the moment, summer its wonderful as they have loads of roses, and rare and unusual perennials.
