I reckon there's a bit missing under the flowers - where have I gone wrong ??

Yes perhaps you have....the neck of the bulb should be above the compost.

Sorry to laugh but I couldn't help it! This is the sort of thing that kept happening to me when I planted indoor bulbs. I gave up!

I did warn you all when I first joined that I was no gardener and I have now proved it!!! You may well laugh Gee - I was so chuffed when I saw the buds poking through the soil and yet so disappointed when this was the fruit of my expectations !!! I suppose the other three will be much the same when they emerge -------

Never mind, I expect they smell nice anyway - you'll just have to bend lower to sniff them :)

Positive thinking Gee!! And yes, the pink stubble does smell nice - well it did, as it's getting past its sell-by date now!!

You haven't gone wrong Terry....Its quite common for plants and bulbs to do this; something untoward may have occurred while the flowerhead was forming, hence no stem.......
