Something not quite right here -

I reckon there's a bit missing under the flowers - where have I gone wrong ??

You haven't gone wrong Terry....Its quite common for plants and bulbs to do this; something untoward may have occurred while the flowerhead was forming, hence no stem.......

maybe you planted the bulb to deep?

Yes perhaps you have....the neck of the bulb should be above the compost.

Sorry to laugh but I couldn't help it! This is the sort of thing that kept happening to me when I planted indoor bulbs. I gave up!

I did warn you all when I first joined that I was no gardener and I have now proved it!!! You may well laugh Gee - I was so chuffed when I saw the buds poking through the soil and yet so disappointed when this was the fruit of my expectations !!! I suppose the other three will be much the same when they emerge -------

Never mind, I expect they smell nice anyway - you'll just have to bend lower to sniff them :)

Positive thinking Gee!! And yes, the pink stubble does smell nice - well it did, as it's getting past its sell-by date now!!
