Hibernation over!

The long spell of freezing weather was worrying me so I have bought Josie and Jubilee indoors. They are slowly waking up :)

At least when they awake they will be in a warm cosy place, very thoughtful of you Gee.;0)

Good idea Gee...especially as it looks set to continue........

When would you normally bring them in to wake up Gee?

They went into hibernation very late (end of October) as the weather was so mild. I hoped to keep them in hibernation until the end January but it was just too risky. When they are fully awake they will have a warm bath, be weighed, and hopefully start eating :)

Yes, I can now remember seeing your pictures last year of their wake up routine, gosh, is it really 12 months ago...! Does bringing them out earlier than you had hoped have any implications for them? Although of course I understand your reasons for doing it! It is so cold....

You are a very caring mum Gee. Can't wait to see the terrible two up to their tricks again.

Good idea Gee - I remember them waking last year and having their warm bath, bless.

It doesn't bother the tortoises at all, PG. It just means lots more clearing up for me :)

What a good idea Hywel, imagine being wrapped up snug and warm in autumn and waking up in spring.

Reminds me of the old cartoons, when the bears hibernated - would it be Yogey Bear?

11 Jan, 2010

I remember Yogey Bear :o) I can't remember if he hibernated. Your memory is better than mine Dawn lol.

11 Jan, 2010

Hi Hywel, I dont think it was actually Yogey that hibernated, maybe I'm thinking of something else, this bear I dont think ever got to sleep, he kept being woken.
