Mid-summer downunder: Planchonia careya (Cocky Apple) in bloom.

These scraggley looking trees are all blooming in the bush right now...but you have to be in the know to catch a glimpse of the flowers. They open in the late afternoon ... around 5.00 pm ... and they have fallen by the morning!

Yes Faerieflora ... it was definitely worth the trudge through the bush and getting attacked by march flies!! Lol!

I didn't realise they were that short lived Bernieh. What a shame, but I guess you have to make the most of them while they are there. I do think they are lovely.

No I've never tried the fruit, Marguerite. Can't say I'm tempted to either.
