Nearby neighbours have had ducks nesting in their back garden. They have kindly made a safe route direct to the pond for both mother and ducklings so they don't have to go the long way round along the road.

I think they've already left, Drc726. Once they leave the nesting area they don't return. Once they had crossed the ditch (not very high at the moment) they only had a short walk across grass to the pond. It would have been fun to see them popping through the doorway and negotiating those steps :)
