Claytonia sibirica

This is a new one on me. Where do you find these little gems?

The plant is a tiny one, so the seedlings are even smaller! LOL.

Delicate and perfectly formed, lovely.

I don't know this one at all. Thought at first glance it was a geranium or erodium. I'll google it:-)

Try 'Purslane', Ba, if you don't find Claytonia'. I believe it's edible, but I haven't tried.

According to Chiltern Seeds : it self-seeds itself with cheerful, rabbit-like abandon, so much in fact you'll be glad to know you can chomp away at the surplus either added to salads or, after a brief boiling in the minimum of water, as a green vegetable - it can't be worse than cabbage!

I still don't fancy it, Wagger....I'd rather see it in the garden, thank you! ;-)

I knew I'd read that you could eat it somewhere.....
