Hi Ray/Jane - do you know the variety of the Spirea in the background? I have that one but I'm not sure of the variety - I did think it was 'Goldflame', but I've seen a darker redder one labled that, so now I'm not sure?!

Sid....ours is Goldflame...two years old.It is a beautiful shrub......

Thanks Bb - I'm glad you've said Goldflame, as that is what I thought mine was to begin with. It is beautiful isn't it...I've found it's dead easy to take cuttings from too.

Must try the cuttings Sid...do you take softwood ones in spring/summer ?

No, I did semi mature ones in summer - heel cuttings. Good luck!

Yes it is and the aquilegias don't half give a lovely show in amongst shrubs gives that dainty effect.

I seem to remember ,Monty Don,asking people to trial a green tulip,a couple of years ago,is this the same one?or am I on the wrong track....again? Lol

Aww sorry but sure you have many successes as your lovely garden seems to testify . Jane got me to spend a fortune ( nearly £20 ! ) on a Camellia never spent so much on one plant .. I said this is Yorkshire should be able to plant the whole garden up for that ! but she insisted .. not been a good year for it .

The buds died on a friends camelia, perhaps it was the cold.
