Well caught Jane ... lovely colour Cytisus .. .. .
We were very nearly caught by a swarm of Bees today , hubby was shouting at me and waving his arms running my way and then I saw it a swarm of Bees a huge cloud filling the garden we dived into the shed a closed the door and stayed there until they had gone ... ..

Oo-er Amy, that sounds scary! I have seen quite a few buzzing around in the bottom of hedges as if looking for a nest... but certainly not a swarm!
Good photo Jane!

I had never seen them swarm like that before PG it was scary , i'm just glad that the shed door was open because we were right in their path .. .. I remember the old chap next door telling us once that he had a swarm hanging from a bush and he had to get a Beekeeper to come along with a skip to collect them ...

Well captured lovely photo. Ahrrr I wondered what these were, I thought they were black, I ve had lots this year, never seen them before in my garden.
They said on tv about the honey bees in decline again and asking the gardenres to encourage the ordinary bees by buying flowers that they like

Hello Bonkers ... he looks good against that peachy broom.

I've been reminded today of an old country saying.
A swarm of bees in May,
Is worth a load of hay.
A swarm of bees in June,
Is worth a silver spoon.
A swarm of bees in July,
Is not worth a fly.
It means if you have a swarm in May or June, they have the chance of making enough food and the queen will have young to carry on the population. But a swarm in July means they haven't time enough to get the hive in full production to survive the following winter.

Nice pic Jane.
Sorry Amy but I don't believe the swarm story, I think that you and your other half were looking for an excuse to get into that shed together.
