A great addition to GoYpedia Water Butts and Barrels :o)

We are on a water meter TT , it made sense to look for something that holds a lot of water .. A friend gave us this one ... very pleased with it we are too ...:o)

Im doing a rain dance for you Amy, lol. It will be fabulous, lots of free water.

we are thinking of a water metre to amy when joe goes to uni, so water butts them for me

We didn't have a choice about going on a water meter San they just did it ! I'm worried that once they have managed to get everybody on a meter they will then be able to charge whatever they like , as the gas and electric do !

Oh dear! This is all news to me, and don't even know what a water meter is. I thought that water usage was gestimated and fixed along with/and included in the annual Council tax bill.

Now I know you live with the Fairy's David ..LOL. ... this has been going on for some time , anything to take more money off us , it's so annoying when it pours with rain why don't they do more to save it ? I have heard people talking about moving to Scotland I believe that on the whole you are treated better up there ..... :o)

For the first 4 years in Spain all our water was rainwater filtered off the roof and collected in a cisterna underground. We used it for everything apart from drinking and managed to water the garden from a large water collector similar to yours. We're just about to install a large water butt here, now the house is finished...it is such a waste going down the drain.........

Hi Janey , yes we have the gutters feeding it from the Arcon it's a huge old building it should have plenty of rain running from it's gutters in fact the smaller water barrels use to overflow from it ...I'm pleased to hear your house is finished what have you been doing to it have you any photos ?

I got a water meter when I moved here - I'd wanted butts anyway, but taht made me more determined.

lol my next project is the get the front garden dug up, sink a huge tank in it, then re-lay the garden. of course, it'll need a pump to get the water out, so taht takes care of my daily exerices ...

Good grief Fran that sounds like a lot of hard work for you ! this tank has never been empty you only need one good storm to fill it up we also have other smaller barrels at the ends of sheds where the water runs from the roofs directed into them , good luck with your project ........

sigh, I doubt the Housing Association would let me go go ahead ...
