Thanks everyone...this is the first Peacock there's been this year....thanks to the buddleia, he decided to visit........lucky you San to have 5, they are so lovely.....I wonder if the one with purple eyes was a different type??

Thanks Milky,Flori and Dd......hope it's back again today....:o)
Maybe so San.....could've flown up from the continent.....you know the Hummingbird moth....I was looking on the internet about them and they are flying in from Africa.....isn't it amazing that something so small and delicate can fly all that way...

Lovely......

24 Jul, 2010

that is amazing janey, wonder how long it takes them to get here.

24 Jul, 2010

you have a talent for capturing butterflies :P it looks amazing :) we've only had cabbage whites and some brown ones which i *think* might be tortoiseshells... (bit out of practice with my butterflies) may need to get some of this buddleia... we usually get red admirals from our large amounts of nettles, but haven't noticed any yet this year :(
But year before last we were on a beach in wales and mum noticed all these butterflies fluttering in from the sea, said they'd come from africa. i shall have to ask her which type they were :/

Thanks Bb...and San....maybe they land on the ferries and have a deck chair each...Lol!
Thanks for that Jennyfer, we're the same here...only the odd butterfly coming into the garden...maybe the cold spring didn't help. I remember those butterflies...were they painted ladies....we had them last year....an orangy brown one, loads of them in the garden....:o))

ah, you could be right :P hmm, i'll have to keep my eyes open and give them another check... can't imagine that winter was good for many insects, butterflies are supposed to be having a hard time of it along with the bees :(

27 Jul, 2010

lol janey ;o)) and ice cream of course hahah

27 Jul, 2010

Yes not a butterfly year Jennyfer, this year, so far....quite a few cabbage whites filling their faces though...Lol!
He, he San.....just imagine if they were German ones they'd have their towels rolled out the night before...best spots by the pool.....whoops sorry...:o)))

27 Jul, 2010

lol janey hahah ;o))

27 Jul, 2010

Can't remember ever seeing one of these in our garden Janey..only the cabbage white ones that munch on my greens :-(

28 Jul, 2010

There aren't many around this year Richard.....up here anyway, the cabbage whites wouldn't be so bad if they were more attractive...Lol!

28 Jul, 2010

Have only seen a couple of butterflies this year Janey, so you are very lucky - seems to be a very bad year - have seen a few bumble bees, but nothing compared to last year when we had several dozens in the garden :0)

29 Jul, 2010

Such a shame Cg, that they haven't done very well this year....there are plenty of bees here though and I noticed quite a lot of honey bees around which is good news.....another bumper year for the hoverflies too....:o)
