Think that this will be the last year we have this. originally planted in 2002, of 4 bulbs, this is the only survivor, with weak stem, and sparse foliage, and only one bloom, which is much redder in colour than the originals. Still like it, though!

I agree, Cinders!! Originally had some black colouring (hence its name?). Ignore the carrot greenery behind this, it is not growing out of our carrots, but in an adjacent pot! :-))

I think the carrot leaves actually set it off nicely. I often put carrot leaves in with my flower arrangements, especially sweet peas.

I was finding I was losing lilies and went looking for a solution I found the link below informative. Having seen my best lilies in neighbours gardens I know none of the advice pertains to squirrels so it did not help me. Hope it helps you.

Love the colour of this Lily David I bought an Hemerocallis called Mahogany Magic on Sunday in the village open garden day it wasn't flowering so looked it up on line and it is a deep purplish red I'm sure you'd like it if you're replacing this one ;o)

Lovely flower, David. Shame they are dying away on you. Lilies are such lovely plants! I used to grow quite a few on the kitchen balcony of our 5th floor flat when we lived in Spain. I still have some photos I took of them but they have yet to be digitalized.
