Pardancanda 'Heart of Darkness'

Pardancanda 'Heart of Darkness' (Pardancanda)

How about this for something a little different? The leaves are similar to an Iris, and each flower only lasts for one day - but how beautiful each one is.

Very pretty! I was thinking of trying Pardancandas, Spritz. How do they do there? Do they grow like bearded Iris?

No idea - I treated myself to a couple of plants as a birthday present to myself. I hope to be able to tell you next year...:-))))

Thanks, Spritz!

Wow, this is different, and so pretty! I can see why you had to treat yourself to this one as a birthday treat, Spritz..... :~))

Never seen one of those before, certainly different and beautiful too

It's bound for the back garden...where it can have plenty of light (NB - I didn't say 'sun')...I'm wondering if it's a bulb or a tuber?

A new one on me, love the colour, will read up on them.

I must, too.....lol.

From what I've been reading, it's a rhizome, like bearded Iris.

Seriously nice!
I was inspired enough to Google it, and whilst most are pretty indifferent looking blooms in the various colours, there are some lovely lookers too in the right colour.
I must say though that this is the stand out one by far!

I planted it - and the Agastache... :-))) Then a thunderstorm started....Henry hates them, so we came in.

Meanie, they had another one called 'Freckles' which was pretty, but not beautiful like this one.

Tug, if it's a rhizome, it should spread, shouldn't it? That would be great. :-))

Pretty ashame it only last a day, but it is lovely.

Well - it's like other plants like Hemerocallis - they only last one day, don't they - but worth it when they're out!

I love the way all the parts are arranged in threes, like Trilliums...most unusual!

20 Aug, 2010
