This plant in the hanging basket was from a cutting of a parent plant I have inside. The flowers have come larger than I have ever had before. I added bone meal to the basket soil, seems to have done the trick.

I have a Swingtime Fuchsia in a basket on my balcony. This is its 2nd year with me. I used to have it a few years ago as well as I've found photos of it on my computer from other years.

Oh, PP how did I miss this? Aren't they wonderful giving so much and being so trouble free. I love it. :-)
Sounds lovely Balcony. I think I've seen those pics. Did you lose it one year? I know yours stay out on the balcony under cover for winter. I have to keep mine on the cool cabin floor.

It does well inside the house, so I have been using this one for five years.

Richard, Swingtime IS hardy. At least it figures in the lists of hardy fuchsias I've looked at!.
I've done a search on the internet & have come up with a nursery catalogue that has photos of 100s of Fuchsias.
Here is a link to the page of hardy fuchsias, besides it's a UK nursery!

Thanks for that Balcony I thought it was tender. This is good news then as I will be able to keep them outside now. I will keep one or two inside though just in case we get severe freezing.

Always worth keeping an extra cutting or two somewhere when you really like one. They strike so well.

I moved all my Fuchsias today from the hanging baskets to, mostly, 6" pots & taken them down to the allotment where we have a greenhouse. I had to throw away one basket as most of the plants had no roots! I found small white grubs curled up in semicircles amongst the remnants of roots. 3 of the 5 plants literally had no roots I don't understand how they could have looked perfectly alright. Two of them were Dollar Princess, the other I think was La Campanella. I managed to save the other two, Thalia & Miss California.
Miss California is a very prolific plant. It has very strong roots & makes a tremendous rootball. It is very stiff growing as well & makes long, angular branches but it also produces some really lovely flowers! They strongly remind me of a ballerina with her arms stretching up above her head.

That's a very poetic description of Miss California Balcony, and conjures up such a beautiful image my friend :-)

Thanks, Richard, only I can't be really sure it is Miss California! That's what it says on the label but it doesn't correspond to the picture or the description! I've tried to find it on the Internet but I no longer remember what I came up with! I'll have to do a new search to see if I can find it & some pictures of it & see if they correspond to the plants I have.
Although it is difficult to select one as a favourite I think this one does it for me!

Just done the search &, as I suspected, the plant I have isn't Miss California! Here is a link to see this plant:
http://www.learn2grow.com/plantdatabase/plants/DisplayLargeImage.ashx?ImageID=138326
It's a very nice pink but is described as lax in habit - does that sound like the plant I describe? Besides mine isn't pink, it's bluish & with pure white sepals that curl upwards. I'll upload a photo to my photos page so you can judge for yourself.
Did another search & came up with this one:

I think this is my Fuchsia! :-))
