We use to stand under a Beech tree to wait for the school bus and collect all the beech nuts we could find to eat in school ....

Never tried Beech nuts Amy, the only ones I remember were those little square chewing gums...Lol!

When at school I used to chew licorice sticks, wouldn't fancy one now.

Beech nut chewing gum was nice to Janey , you should try some beech nuts , you've probably missed them for this year , the squirrels will have had them all , they are very tasty ...
Heron , I bought the grandchildren some licorice sticks when we were on holiday , they were like sticks of wood , we all tried them and said yuk and they had to be thrown away ...LOL....
