Coronilla valentina

Coronilla valentina (Coronilla valentina subs. glauca)

My favourite shrub has started flowering again. It flowers at least twice a year, and it's evergreen.

I love this too! Don't have one though. I did have a kind of something like this and it flowered twice and was evergreen, but it was in the wrong place...I may get another one and plant it somewhere more suitable. Sometimes I wonder what on earth I am thinking of when I take things out and discard them...I have no idea what happened to this. I recall thinking...that's too big for there...but why did I not try to move it? Crazy....

Keep watching, Holly - I'm sure it won't be long. Do you like it as much as I do?

I love this plant too,I recently saw a superb specimen in a churchyard in Cornwall; it was magnificent.

Was it a larger version, Richard? Mine is about 3' tall. In full bloom it lights the garden up. :-)

It was a bit taller, tumbling over, and along a wall.

Spritz - Just put a photo of this in my photos 7thNov its about 24/30" and was planted in March this year it had a couple of little flowers on it when I bought it and I don`t think it has stopped flowering since.

Don't know this shrub, but it's a beauty, and a good size for a smaller garden like mine. So many plants and so little room!!!

Stroller will agree with me what a smasher this one is - worth having if you can possibly fit it in.

Richard - yes, mine does have the tendency to 'flop' so it would make sense to grow it over a wall. That must have been a real sight!

how hardy do you think it is Spritz? will it do up north?

It has three RHS stars, but an added 'borderline'....hmmm...I wouldn't be sure, unless it was in a sheltered area.

yes i do ...: O ))

I somehow thought you would....:-))))

Beautiful yellow, when did it first bloom Spritz ?

17 Nov, 2010

It flowers in the early summer onwards, and then again from now - but it does produce 'extra' flowers right through the year! I just love it. :-)

Seaburn, I`m in the West Midlands and I planted mine in March this year with two or three blooms on it, it hasn`t stopped flowering yet - posted a pic on the 7th of this month and it is still full of blooms.
I`m with Spritz on this was it really is a cracker.
