Trotty Wagtail

Trotty Wagtail

I did a blog about this little bird back in February, when he began to come into my kitchen. He disappeared for the summer but has now returned and is just as eager for his mealworms.

Yes, Amy, he just flutters in and I put a couple of mealworms on the doormat for him. I have to watch Millie but last time she just laid in the doorway and watched :)

Those little trottie wagtails get everywhere, but not in my garden Gee. I see them near the river and in the supermarket carparks. Went in the kitchen to wash breakfast dishes, just in time to see a huge mistle thrush on the path.....pick up a bunch of grapes and fly off... away from Calico cat and Blobby cat who are always lurking around

Glad the thrush knows how to escape those two cats, Dorjac, and carry off the goodies :)

We have a wagtail just like yours Gee. It rules the garden and sees most birds off. I want to go and throw some water at it but it would probable bathe in it anyway LOL

They are feisty little birds, aren't they, Linda? I put mealworms in several places in the garden, under bushes as well as on the birdtable, etc so my little Trotty doesn't seem to worry too much about the other birds :)

I have moved the birdtable a little way towards the house as it looks as though we are going to get another bought of the dreaded white stuff at the weekend. I shall certainly try what you suggested Gee and sprinkle mealworms around the garden. I buy my mealworms from WIlkinsons at £4 for two tubs.

Just been outside to tidy up the scattered seed from the container. We only have a small garden so Gerry has taken the washing line down for the winter as we don't use it and so the bigger birds can fly in if they get hungry.
