This is why I leave the flowers on my Hydrangea!

It does look spectacular Sheila, and well worth having Karen. I had 2 flowers this year, so I think mine, which I planted 3 years ago is has decided to get growing!

i love that plant ~ summer or winter ~ am i right in thinking it will grow happily on a north wall?

Yes Sticki, exactly. That's where mine is, and it clings without help - in fact needs very little attention except admiration! :)

now that is what i call a good plant!!

Yes, it is a good plant. And it does take a little while to settle in, but then it grows beautifully! I find a lot of shrubs are like that though. I have Choisyas that have been in for four years and are only just really starting to grow.

choisyas dont seem to like it here at all ~ they grew really well at my last house!
i have a very tatty bit of hedge which faces north im wondering if i could grow that hydrangea there ~ it would certainly improve the look!

Well, it is supposed to be the perfect climber for a north facing wall or fence Sticki so go for it!

That's beautiful Sheila. I have been thinking about getting one of these next spring and I believe you have just helped me to decide! See, I was thinking...mmm...not evergreen...but then if you leave the flowers on.....magnificent!
