This could take a while! Lots of sticking to do, slate, peble, shell and glass. It's meant to be a stream running through the stones.

Will watch out for finished article Lulu, looks like a lot of hard work, do you have to wait in between bits to adhere, if you know what I mean, or do you stick it all at once?

fascinating ~ i thought stream before i read what you had written. i like the flowing shape.

It's going to take a few hours to stick it all down, then fill in the gaps with more glass. Sadly it looses alot of light with the grout in between, but you never know till the grouting is finished and the final polish. Not a cost effective art but it keeps me very busy!

Cant wait to see it finished Lulu......

thats a shame about the grout ~ is there no other possibility? some translucent type glue?
5 Jan, 2011
Anything thats a translucent liquid is quite poisenous, so so far I have stick to grout, I just have to make it work for me. Am thinking of leaving mosaics and working with enamels?

enamels looks lovely ~ you know that almost clear sealant you can put round a bath ~ would that work?
6 Jan, 2011
Hi Sticki, bath sealant is a problem with glass cos if you get any sealant on it, it's abugger to wipe off and it stops it shining!!
Just spent half a day reorganising my studio and cleaning it, so it will be back to work very soon!!!

oh dear, sorry that doesnt work
i will be interested to hear how you are getting on

Will start sticking it down on Sunday, as today is a cooking day then tomorrow cleaning (only because a friend is visiting!)

you're very organised lulu

Well it's really an excuse because it's so grey and COLD in my studio!! Have finished the cooking but won't clean too much yet as the dogs will only mess it up! They need a walk because they are bouncing around and it's raining and to top it all I have sore bones in my feet!?

This is going to be terrific! Very imaginative idea, Lulu - what do you use as the base to stick the stones and glass on? It looks tricky, but what fun. :)

do you fancy doing a workshop for us lulu?
8 Jan, 2011
Well Sticki you are only just up the M5 from me, we live near Tetbury and you would be very welcome to come play in the studio, that would be great fun!!!

Sorry Sheilabub forgot to answer your question.....I stick the glass onto 1/2 inch ply wood, sometimes onto granit of slate if for outside use.
8 Jan, 2011
When you say "outside use" is it put flat on the ground, or displayed vertically?
8 Jan, 2011
Have only displayed vertically, as my pieces are rarely flat which may cause a tripping problem! They look nice leaning against a wall or propped in a flower bed. I took a few pics of outside ones way back in my profile!!
