17 Jan, 2011
thankyou so much paul, it really does help going there and watching others, especially the member there who are good artists, one man does wildlife, tigers etc, so good, love watching him work looks so easy, but isnt lol
17 Jan, 2011
You have done a great job there,San..and what a lovely sentimental picture to have..I would enter it for your art society...your first portrait :o)) are you painting Baz next ??/
17 Jan, 2011
Well done, Sandra it isnt easy painting pets I found that pastels are great for getting the texture of the fur right, Polly was very difficult as she was all black and I had to use different colours to bring out the texture and movement in her coat.
17 Jan, 2011
Good cat posing for his portrait lol
Will you be framing it ? It's good :o))
17 Jan, 2011
Well Casper's fur is definitely lifelike Sanbaz. Great picture.
17 Jan, 2011
thanx sandra, since finishing this i have gone back and added, nothing major, but little strokes which you dont see at first, i do that alot lol, yes baz next lol i dont think so hahaa :o)
thanx carole yes pastels do seem good for animals, iv seen some using them at art society, and as casper is black and white i founf that hard , but happy at first attempt :o)

17 Jan, 2011
thankyou Tetra glad you like it to, i feel i managed to get a likeness which im glad :o)
17 Jan, 2011
thats very clever ~ is it paul klee that paints in that style? im not very good at knowing the artists names [apart from sanbaz and some others on here of course] but there is definitely one that paints like this ~ with the clear background to make the cat stand out.
17 Jan, 2011
That's great Sandra, good for you :-)
17 Jan, 2011
Its smashing Sandra, it really is a good likeness. :o)
17 Jan, 2011
thanx sticki im not sure who you mean but will look that name up. i thought about a background but then decided not to as it takes the eye of the subject :o)
thankyou Dawn glad you like it to :o))
cheers sandra i was amazed it actually did look like him lol :o)

Hi Sandra
It is really good to see your cat painting. It is nice to paint things and people you love. For some reason I have never painted my sons. When they were younger they wouldn't sit still and now they both live in London it is too difficult to arrange sittings. You could paint Joe next!!
17 Jan, 2011
hi linda thankyou for looking, baz wanted me to try casper and i said i cant do animals so i surprised myself with this first attempt, its not perfect but im still happy,
you will have to look back at some photos linda and paint your son`s,, dont know about painting joe or any human for that matter lol, maybe one day :o)
17 Jan, 2011

18 Jan, 2011

18 Jan, 2011
cheers maureen, moti, elsiemay, sixpence.yourkshire and Gee, iv been looking for a frame and seen some at granthams, didnt have the size at wilkos,
your right sixpence, never think its good enough, but after my class today i know where i was going wrong with the paints, acrylics need to be kept moist, so spraying water on paints as you load the brush helps them to glide better, done some more of my church today and also i need to take a photo to start my abstract which is just something we are all going to try together, should be fun lol
18 Jan, 2011

22 Jan, 2011
wow i love it sandra .......... you no they look better wen they are framed under glass !!! try it u see .;o))) make sure you put a wide mount on it , it will look fab
22 Jan, 2011
thanx sue, im learning all the time its great, half way through my church painting, the hard bit will be the forground , a mass of crocus , hope it turns out ok, look forward to seeing your water colour to sue :o))
thanx cristina iv put it in frame but without mount as i left the out rim white and looks fine, it gets a bit expensive buying frames and mounts, but want to do that with the church, will make such a difference :o))
23 Jan, 2011
only just spotted Caspar San!-- he's very good you've the face just right as to the fur have you seen a brush like a halfmoon fan -- very thin-- I find that with practise it helps or hold the bristles into a fan and try that
I'm playing with charcoal at the moment and drawing animals amazing what results you get from just black & white.
I'm so pleased how well you are doing-- a natural talent i'd say-- :o)
24 Jan, 2011
thankyou so much Pam, yes i have a fan brush they are great, not got the hang of it in small areas yet, tend to go over the bit im painting haha
glad your enjoying doing animals in charcoal, not sure i would be safe with them as im a messy devil lol
maybe you could post or send me one you have done, would be lovely to see. :o))
24 Jan, 2011
it is messy San but there again so's pastel and the rest I wear old clothes and an apron but still have to check in the mirror before I leave :o)
24 Jan, 2011
lol Pam, maybe i will try them one day to :o)
24 Jan, 2011
Just discovered this, love it, the expression on Caspar's face is brilliant, you have found your vocation lol
24 Jan, 2011
its fun just to play and see what you can do-- i do follow books as well you get some good tips
24 Jan, 2011
lol dotty, thankyou :o)
my step son got me a painters bible for birthday lol, for oils its great though, so handy pam
24 Jan, 2011
Just catching up on pics San, this is lovely, you've captured him so well. Love his paws .. lol!
24 Jan, 2011
lol thanx shirley, i framed it and he is in the corner lol, but i can see it and quite happy with first atempt :o))
25 Jan, 2011
Oh, you can't put Caspar in the corner! He'll think he's been naughty .. lol! : o ))
25 Jan, 2011
lol shirley, well not to far in the corner, can be seen if you come from upstairs or in front door, so he`s happy :o))
25 Jan, 2011
Pleased to hear it ! Do you know, since we had Jake, the dog, to stay here, Megan hasn't slept in her cat bed . She'll sleep on our bed, the sofa or the computer chair but avoids her bed. Jake may have sniffed around it, certainly didn't sleep in it though. Very odd. : o ((
25 Jan, 2011
how strange shirley, i cant think why, only if jake left a scent in there, i would wash and pop something of yours in with your scent, see what happens ;o)
25 Jan, 2011
Good idea, San, will pop it in the machine right now! OH has gone to watch live footie and it's getting colder by the minute outside! Hope his team win or he'll be grouchy as well as cold .. lol!
25 Jan, 2011
lol shirley, think johnny gone to watch footie at his dads, not sure if its blackpool or chelsea, who cares hahaa
25 Jan, 2011
I've got music on Spotify ... have made up my own little compilation ... Tamla Motown at the moment ... my era ... lol!
25 Jan, 2011
I think I'm an adopted Seagull Shirley as my Hove friends are passionate supporters, they are doing so well at the moment and it would be wonderful it they go to the new stadium in a new division-- they've already got tickets for the 'last match' and looking forwards to the summer and the 'trial matches' in the new stadium:o))
as to music-- I mostly listen to 'flower power radio'
26 Jan, 2011
Love it Pam - adopted Seagull! OH and son went to the match last night - another win - they will be choosing their seats in the Amex stadium on February 14th so looks like no Valentine Day meal for me then - lol!
26 Jan, 2011
the're very excited-- its been so long coming-- and having to use the stadium has been such a problem but at least its kept the club going
I've been taken past the new home since it was a hole in the ground, when I went last autumn it does look impressive
