Lol lol lol. They'll be eating your strawberries when they are ready Amy. Our squirrels have made a drey in our ash tree - used an old green woodpeckers nest. Bonnie loves to chase them.

Wow, a family outing! That is terrific, Amy :)

awww cute pic...

They are cute little babies but it's very difficult to feed the birds I'll have to invest in one of those big squirrel proof feeders ! you are right about the Strawberries Dawn I've had to cover them up with layers of netting they love Strawberries ... How clever of your squirrels to use an old woodpeckers nest, I bet Bonnie gives them a fright ;o))

What a great photo! The squirrels are so determined whatever the feeder is like - they almost deserve their share! Maybe get another with an inner cylinder inside a cage (they find that quite a struggle) - and maybe they'll stick with the birdtable?!

Lol Amy, I think our squirrells just tease Bonnie as they are usually twenty feet up

I have had a small squirrel proof feeder in the past Sheila but they still manage to get into it some how ,their tooth are so sharp and strong they can chew through anything ...
Our old Dog Barney use to do that Dawn he use to follow and watch them up in the trees in fact we bought a garden ornament of a dog the same size and shape as Barney with it's head cocked to one side looking up into the trees , we had to buy it because it looked so much like him and how he use to look , I still pat it on the head when I'm passing :o)

I'm amazed by all the wildlife you get, though some is not so welcome :-( But these fellows are thoroughly cute! Great shot!

We get a great variety of wild life here Poodle but as you say some are not always welcome :o(
31 May, 2011
Sorry Amy, but these little fellows wouldn't be welcome in my garden. They look so cute on a pic or photo, but they are soooo destructive. Just be careful they don't get into the house, as I've seen what they can do.

Gosh Linda I didn't think of that I have seen them near the back door .. .. I know they are cute but we don't like them being here they are as you say destructive they steal the fruit and dig up bulbs but we dont know how to get rid of them !

Years ago a friend of mine(well, she was actually my boss) got home from work, and thought she'd been burgled. It turned out a couple of squirrels had got into the house and caused havoc. They had literally torn, almost shredded her leather settee apart. They'd had a good old munch of her chairs, and destroyed clothes that she had put ready to wash, and wreaked mayhem in the kitchen. They had turned the downstairs into what looked like a battle ground. My dad started putting nuts on the kitchen windowsill at one time, out of curiousity, not really knowing what he was feeding, until my mum found out it was a squirrel. She dared him ever to put food out again, saying he would be in big trouble, as one of her friends had experienced the aftermath of squirrel damage.

Thanks for the warning Linda ,that must have been an awful thing to happen !!

Amy, is your bird table (squirrel table, lol) one of the ones with a slate roof, love those.
31 May, 2011
It did have a thatched roof Dawn but the birds and time had destroyed it so Tony found some floor slates cut them to size and Hey-presto a nice newly repaired bird table , good idea don't you think ?
31 May, 2011
I know they can be pests,etc..but I still like them..maybe I would change my mind,if I had them in my garden..
31 May, 2011
Very good idea Amy. Sounds like the thatched tops aren't that practical. Please tell Tony it looks great.
31 May, 2011
I still like to see them Sandra but they are pests !
I will tell Tony Dawn he will be chuffed :o))
31 May, 2011
:-))))
Has the wire fencing job gone ok, to keep the pesty rabbits out.
31 May, 2011
We thinks so Dawn ! Tony noticed some tops gone off some more leeks but couldn't be sure if they were done today or previously . I've been cutting Marmy claws this evening, I hate doing it I'm frightened that I will hurt her but she is better with Tony holding her , I've done some and left a few for another night ...
31 May, 2011
I'm sure Marmy knows the job has to be done Amy, no doubt she had some tasty tuna as a reward for being a good girl.

5 Jun, 2011
