I photograph these every year on the Buddlea I am captivated by them.

Lovely shot Troddles!
I hate butterflies though - their caterpillars have just taken out every leaf on my gooseberry bush in 24hours!

I'm so sorry Meanie, you must have vandal butterflies.....the only caterpillars I have to watch out for is the usual large white.....and they get the "squash".

The irony of a caterpillar is that when they turn into a beautiful butterfly (or moth) we forgive them their past sins!!

Im amazed a wonderful shot, Newfi has put a picture of the Swallowtail Butterfly its stunning isnt it, gone on my favourites!

Nice thing about the Swallowtail it stays around with the wings wide open and so you have time to take a decent shot.
