A lovely photo Louise .Mine have yet to open yet. I also have to keep an eye on them because can suffer with bad mildew.

Rose, never once have these suffered with mildew and there are several different perennials here that do, badly, so i'm quite surprised that they do there.

Our garden Louise doesn't get constant sunshine. We are surrounded by beech trees and scots pine and there isn't a single border that has more than 3 hours of sunshine, but up to now this year they are ok. fingers crossed.

Oh, i see, that could be a difficult area to garden then.
I'd have the area covered in Epimediums if i had your type of garden.
