Balloon Festival..Sat Evening Launch

Where we used to live there was a balloon festival every July....amazing aren't they? The first year I was working in the garden...and I heard a Whoooosh above me...looked up and there was a balloon about 50 ft. above me. It was early morning and very quiet (for town) and when I knew enough to listen I could hear their conversations. Would have liked to take a ride.
One of the balloons was Old MacDonald's Farm...coool. lol.

We have a grandstand view of the Fiesta every year, together with the Red Arrow Jets..one flew over the house and the noise was so thunderous, I jumped a mile, even tho I knew it was coming!
I know what you mean about seeing them early morning, I often do and yes, can hear their chatter. But I think I might pass on a ride..a friend took one and only just missed landing on the Motorway!

hmmm... wonder how one gets a balloon pilot's licence? lol... I remember seeing a balloon in trouble once...he was coming into our development over a forested area...there must have been a downdraft as he started to plummet...he was burning like crazy and the gondola came to within inches of the housetops before it started to rise again...a moment's inattention maybe?
