beautiful! Did it pick it's own spot..or did you plant it right by the stairs?

It self seeded from sunflowers I had last year, Lori, and had to stake up, so while it was a youngster I moved it to where it could be tied in with no fuss. The nice part of that is that I can climb the stairs and look right into its face! :o)

Bees really shouldn't bother you, Nariz, they are usually too engrossed in their work to take much notice of us humans!

I'm never bothered by them, Balcony. One of the greatest pleasures is to hear dozens of them busily buzzing over my lavender in early Summer.

The Sunflower is only about 6 ft - just a baby! :o)

You are like me then! I love to watch them going from flower to flower drinking the nectar or gathering the pollen which is fascinating to me!

Gerry showed us a beehive in church this morning after the service finished. He is going to use it in the exposition for the harvest thanksgiving service next week. We will use Sunflowers from the allotment as well.

Some of the produce from our allotments will be shown as well together with the many things people buy for the occasion. This will be the third time, or perhaps the fourth time that I have helped him to put it all up (Lost count of the times I've helped now!). Last year we grew tomatoes & green beans in pots so as to be able to transfer them later to the church!
