That does look good but I have to confess to a slight disappointment as, from the mini- photo I was expecting cake! Should probably make that eye-test appointment...
28 Oct, 2011

Sticki, the kilner jars i have seen in the supermarkets are plasticy, do you think this is a problem or should I look for glass. One had a sticker on the bottom 'for dry foods' so I am assuming glass is the way to go
29 Oct, 2011
that looks mouth mouthwatering good Sticki :-)
29 Oct, 2011
Yummy . looks lovely
29 Oct, 2011
Made my mouth water straight away, mmmmmm. delicious Sticki.
30 Oct, 2011
thank you lulu, pansy, surreylad, sue and grandmage ~ sorry for the late reply i have been in devon and only got back today.
stevie ~ im wondering if plastic is not so good for two reasons:
sometimes it discolours and doesnt look nice
but more importantly perhaps its not so easy to make sure its clean ~ they recommend the glass ones go in the dishwasher on hot or wash in very hot water ~ dont pour boiling water in them like i did ~ the bottom fell out!!!!
31 Oct, 2011
Do you know the shop Lakeland? They sell lovely kilner/glass jars for pickles and jams!
31 Oct, 2011
yes i know them, they are very good at posting things too ~ i got my kilner jars from wilkinsons ~ quite cheap!!
31 Oct, 2011
Ah you have to grab a bargain, I agree.!
31 Oct, 2011
:-)
31 Oct, 2011
mmm I had another look at the tesco kilner ones today and they are indeed glass. Checked the lids to make sure they were tight as a couple were not so. £2/£2.50 for 1/2 n 1l
31 Oct, 2011
i cant remember how much i paid, no more than that certainly ~ you are right to check the lids ~ they dont all fit well!!
have you made any more?
