Thats fantastic!

Its a protea D. Protea nutans or sometimes called pincushion flower. Beautiful arent they? I used to sell them in my flower shop. Wonderful to see them growing so well.

I thought it was a protea on first sight, but the leaves are fleshy, like a succulent ... so different from the protea I had growing in my previous garden. So obviously not all proteas have the same or similar leaf-types. Fascinating! Thanks Poppylover.

I love all proteas Dwyllis. You are so lucky to have the right growing conditions for them. Just one (one of the larger types like King) looks fantastic in a bouquet surrounded by folded aspidestra leaves and a few loops of grass. mmmmmmmmmnnnnnnnn...!

The protea growing in my previous garden was a gorgeous red with a lime-green-lemon bloom. It grew to around 2 metres high, but sadly it had been planted behind a small palm tree, which kind of hid it.

This is Leucospermum cordifolium (there's several varieties) which is a very common landscape shrub here in San Diego.
