Pretty blue flowers in May-June and then September. It is 8-10ft high. Needs to be pruned to knee height in early March because it flowers on new growth. Pruning Group 3.

That is interesting to know Xcyx. Edinburgh Zoo near me is getting two Pandas from China, arriving on Sunday, so we share another bond. GOY makes the world a much smaller space with a very large family doesn't it.

A very long time ago we did see a Panda at London Zoo. Nowadays the conditions in which they are kept is much better and purpose designed areas have been set up for each of the Pandas that will arrive on Sunday. Edinburgh Zoo is on a hillside so it will be a good home for them. It is part of the Chinese Governments plan to save the Panda from extinction - to send pairs to good homes where they might breed. They will live separately and only be allowed to visit one another when it is hoped the female is ready to conceive. That is only a very short time maybe 24 - 36 hours each year.

It seemed like a good idea for panda, But a sad story for the pairs.

And it is Surprising that you know so much about panda.

In the wild Pandas live peaceably alongside but not with others except at breeding time. Google Chinese Pandas and there are many sites giving information about the cause and effect of the Panda being endangered and the inherent dangers in keeping them in Zoos. http://www.ehow.com/info_8180423_effects-giant-panda-being-endangered.html

You are welcome. Soon it will be Christmas, a Christian festival and we wish you and everyone of whatever religion or none best wishes. The Pandas are settling in to their new homes very happily. The female sleeps quite a lot but the male is very interested in all that is going on around the enclosures and seems to like the food. They can see one another through a grid between the pens and have touched paws in a "high five" way. We are very hopeful that they will breed.
