It's another 'weed' here! lol! :)

Your garden is going to be impossibly luscious... Ok daft Q Karen. We all complain about slugs and snails....Any idea what is going to be your persistent pest yet ?
29 Nov, 2011
Lovely, even if it is a weed:-)

Beats bittercress lol. :o)))

Yep! Smug...that's me! :))))
Pimpernel- just google 'giant African snails' !!! :/ ;)

Good lord!!!
But you can see them surely....I mean no way can they hide under the rim of your plant pot....Gawd how much slug pellet are you gonna need to knock one of them out ?
29 Nov, 2011
I'll just send Esther out after it/them, Pimpernel...then in then IN THE POT!!! (with pepper sauce! lol!)

I hope Myron reads this..Lol He eats the ones in his garden.
29 Nov, 2011
Aaahh yak - does he cook them first?
29 Nov, 2011
Ummm....so do I!!!

Always cooked, Sheila!

Is this a shrub or a climber Karen?
I ask as this is what can happen if you let A.cathartica get out of control...................

Check out this thread Karen

We have both sorts, Meanie...I can see one just like that outside my window right now...I think it's climbing up a tree (it's hard to see the tree!). I'm not sure about the one I posted, which is in the garden. It's considerably smaller - I'll have to have another look!
Haha! Pimpernel - just went there and added my tuppence worth! :)

Great photo! Allamanda cathartica can grow as a shrub if trimmed. There's Allamanda neriifolia which is a shrub.

I only asked as it doesn't look like A.cathartica. The petals are more rounded on A.cathartica.............

This is A.schottii................

This has happened twice this morning!
The comment above was posted by me, not Iciar!!!

Meanie:
I was going to post this information. I think you're correct, this is A schotti. The leaves are narrower. A cathartica has larger leaves which DON'T have the veining. I just looked at my plant...and the leaves are shinier, also.

Meanie:
I think you're joined by the hip to Iciar! lol! :>)
I think you better let Peter know what's going on.
3 Dec, 2011
Lol Baby Meanie strikes again.
3 Dec, 2011
I just hope that Iciar doesn't think that I'm hacking into their account.
I have reported it, but it's a random event.
3 Dec, 2011
I think Iciar's account is defunct Meanie. This should not be happening.
3 Dec, 2011
Good point!
Unlikely to get the hump with me as they haven't been on in four years!!
3 Dec, 2011
You're not alone, Meanie...there are a few other GoYers who shape-shift into babies, by the name of 'Iciar'...! :/
I still can't tell which allamanda it is...they're all bl**dy huge here!!!
6 Dec, 2011
That's a relief!
I thought that I had a secret life..........
6 Dec, 2011
...or LIVES perhaps, Meanie........! ;))
6 Dec, 2011
My secret life is so secret that it has been kept secret from me!

Karenfranceafrica:
This plant is either Allamanda schotti or neriifolia. It's definitely not A. cathartica...as it doesn't have veins on the leaves.
7 Dec, 2011
I can take a pic of the leaves too, Delonix. It's growing out of the pavement just across the road...I think that it's growing up a fig tree - which is just only just visable!
I did google it...and it was the flower and climbing match I went with... :)
