I've only ever had one in the garden and was quite taken aback by the size of it. We get lots of them wandering, yes, just wandering around on the country roads here and they give me lots of practice at emergency stops. Sadly, quite a few come to a sticky end, but, fingers crossed, I haven't hit one - yet.

Oh, HB, that sounds awful and very upsetting. Occasionally a bird flies into my patio doors, stunning itself. That's bad enough.
