Ha..Thanks, it was a very bad picture that turned out OK after cropping two thirds off.
13 Dec, 2011
Interesting pic ...
... cropping is very useful, isn't it ! :o)
13 Dec, 2011
that is very stylish ~ do you have a haiku poem to go with it?
14 Dec, 2011
That would have to be a Kigo (seasonal) haiku Sticki.
14 Dec, 2011
hatsu yuki kigo! apparently.
14 Dec, 2011
We'll be fluent in a couple of weeks..:0))

15 Dec, 2011
Ha..that last one didn't work...
15 Dec, 2011
If I load my Japanese font it might!
15 Dec, 2011
how did you do that pimpernel?
15 Dec, 2011
Yes Pimp whats the Japanese connection? I have a bit of experience myself
15 Dec, 2011
in sushi???
15 Dec, 2011
Food and Art are the only connection..You know how it is, I spent years thinking raw fish was the diet of Japan. If you say Sushi people think raw fish, even though it can contain no fish at all. It must be 25 years ago at least that I was invited to a Japanese meal at a works do. I decided to eat what ever I was offered and I enjoyed it.... Now as a special treat I would choose to eat Sashimi as much as any other "world" cuisine.
"Oyaki" is a brilliant example, you could use any filling at all.........Shepherds Pie Oyaki or Chutney!
15 Dec, 2011
oyaki looks good.
think it needs something with a bit of crunch inside it.
15 Dec, 2011
Without filling it is potato cake..Yumm
15 Dec, 2011
i like potatoes.
tuna, red onion and fresh coriander with a little mayo might be good.
15 Dec, 2011
Love anything Japanese. I have a few faves but love Hiyayakko, very fresh, and Nikujaga. Anything sushi
15 Dec, 2011
think the Nikujaga sounds better.
15 Dec, 2011
I remember a very nice noodle place that did a tuna salad with thick soba noodles...lovely
15 Dec, 2011
I keep trying to enjoy Tofu ...I leave it out of my miso soup even. It is difficult getting some ingredients and expensive online.
16 Dec, 2011
Yes Pimip I would say unless you make it yourself its virtually impossible to get it fresh.
I love the smooth fresh type with a tad of soy and the chopped spring onion, wasabi n ginger etc.
I think to cook it in stir fry should be an actual crime, theres no point in that to me
16 Dec, 2011
Oooo. What an artistic zoom.
20 Dec, 2011
minimalist, and elegant! it looks as though the end of othe branch forms a basket that's waiting to catch the moon - *s* sure it would fit exactly There's got to be an "inspirtional" haiku in thre somewhere!
4 Jan, 2012
There is a special sushi, called "After Fukushima". The one that ate Japan Minister of Agriculture to prove they are safe. This is bad joke, of course. But people are not able to learn.
4 Jan, 2012
here's my "starter for ten"
delicate new leaves

*s* sure someone else can do much better!
5 Jan, 2012
Very Good fran.
5 Jan, 2012
great Fran, my crack
Old leaf viewing,
The last moon of life,
as buds awake
5 Jan, 2012
i like these haiku, very clever stuff.
would take me ages to do one but i might have a try.
5 Jan, 2012
Sticki views the moon
Old leaf n woman she thinks
But heart is like the buds
5 Jan, 2012
go for it, Stikitoffee - I found haiku form a bit hard to get into when I first started trying to write them, but then I found it was just as hard to get *out* of the habit!
I'm passionate about creatinve wring, and believe that everyone can write. just that too often we don't get the chance to find out that we can. Same with any creative talent: drawing, music, dance ...
lol Stevie, two birds with one haiku!
5 Jan, 2012
is it 5 syllables then 6 then 5?
5 Jan, 2012
I thought it was 15 in total
5 Jan, 2012
classical form is, I think, 5-7-5
though I did accidentally invent a new haiku form: Alex in our writers' group was talking about a "renga", I think: 5-7-5-7-7 - I thought I'd have a go, but mis-remembered the sequence and did 5-5-7-5-5 (more symmetrical). She said it was a new form, so I called it a "fralex", after both of us

Fascinating isn't it. I like these.

5 Jan, 2012
Small corner for haiku??
5 Jan, 2012
lol GoY should have a poetry book, proceeds maybe to some charity; sure we'd all want to pitch in. (yeah, like they don't have enough work keeping the site going so smoothly!)
5 Jan, 2012
But we can put poems with flower pictures in a blog?
5 Jan, 2012
smiles, so long as both verse and pics aren't anyone else's, why not? or even with a photo on its own! *s*
5 Jan, 2012
:-)
6 Jan, 2012
this isnt quite right but im hooked on this now:
Branches beckoning
Promises fluttering
Silken evening sky
6 Jan, 2012
That is how people get sucked in to Haiku Sticki..
I am now informed that European Haiku should be no more than 11 syllables as our language has more than the Japanese. The 3:5:3 format is the one we should use.
is that so Fran ?
6 Jan, 2012
Ok, new challenge then. Will try again!
6 Jan, 2012
I think we should do one on every japonesque picture we see posted from now on?
6 Jan, 2012
3-5-3? sounds a bit short, Pimpernel! "Eueopean haiku"? is that for real? but lol, there's a challenge waiting to be picked up!
the branch waits
to enfold the moon;
soon achieved
heh!
and why just Japanesque pics? grins, like manure: spead it widely and see what grows!
7 Jan, 2012
Now you are really setting up a challenge fran, but why use 50 words when 11 syllables will do?!
Silhouette
On moon-lit blue sky
Beautiful
7 Jan, 2012
oh, lovely! and you said you thought you couldn't write haikus???
7 Jan, 2012
Thanks fran, just a challenge that sort of appealed. Think I might rather like this challenge.
Always wondered if it would be possible to write an essay in one text message when I was at college! Would really make you think wouldn't it!
7 Jan, 2012
lol try Twittering an essay! *s*
7 Jan, 2012
havent done twitter! darent try really ~ i spend enough time on here!!!
7 Jan, 2012
lol I tried it once, to see what it was all about: I signed up, got a page full or "Paris Hilton is in her car", "Paris Hilton has got home", "Paris Hilton is watching a movie" - I commented "Am I supposed to care what some talentless nonentity is doing?" and never went back.
7 Jan, 2012
would love to have seen their reaction when they read your tweet!!!
7 Jan, 2012
lol they probably have a "vanity filter" that bleeps out all but total adoration! I'm sure that Twitter can be useful, and informative, but this is the only experience I had of it.
I mean, really... how sad does someone have to be to tell the world that they're in a car, or that they've got out of their car, or that they're watching a "movie"??? I mean, who really needs to know?
7 Jan, 2012
vanity filter!!!!! fran you made me laugh ~ probably about right too!!!
i cant imagine why anyone wants to know they are in a car or out of a car.
7 Jan, 2012
apparently some people even report when they go to the toilet, and go into details as well! *shakes head sadly* I can't imagine why they think anyone else would be interested.
7 Jan, 2012
newsflash ''Paris Hilton has been turned down to receive an STT pallet bench'' on the grounds that she is not worthy!!
7 Jan, 2012
brilliant stevie!!!
toilet details not at all nice fran i definitely wouldnt be reading those.
7 Jan, 2012
lol Stevie, did you tell her so??
and can I bid for iit instead????
7 Jan, 2012
stevie you would have a great following on twitter, but you would know who was following cos they would all be laughing.
7 Jan, 2012
P'ris Hilton
fames for being famed
for nothing
hmm, Pimpernel suggested this new haiku form so should get the name but can't be shortened! "pimp"? "pimp'l"?
hmm, does the pimpernel flower have a anme in Japanese?
7 Jan, 2012
very clever.
P'nel???
7 Jan, 2012
that's about the best abbreviation we'd get! *s*
7 Jan, 2012
:-)
7 Jan, 2012
http://www.ahapoetry.com/KEIRULE.HTM
It talks here about the 3:5:3 format
7 Jan, 2012
Trust the Yanks
to "improve" a form
that worked already.
*s*
7 Jan, 2012
Scarlet pimpernel is also known as "Poor Man" - know nothing about the Japanese, Fran. Don't think this really helps, though, does it?
7 Jan, 2012
have a go at the haiku gattina
7 Jan, 2012
That is certainly true! Another bike to pay for next week. Fingers Xed for the lottery!
Oh..Gattina , What is the Itallian word for Chutney or Pickle? thank you.
7 Jan, 2012
Erm, pass. I think I'll go and load the dishwasher.
7 Jan, 2012
Nice try Gatt.. I will just refine that one for you!
Think I'll go
Load the dishwasher
feed the cat.
7 Jan, 2012
Can we make "cat" plural and stick to the rules? Can we make up our own rules? Can we just ignore them?
7 Jan, 2012
No.
7 Jan, 2012
lol the only rule is that there are no rules, except what works for you! Haiku purists might not agree, though ...
7 Jan, 2012
chutney seems to be chutney in italian!! ~ why pimpernel?
7 Jan, 2012
I think we need GoY haiku

I think that we've all had too much free time on our hands today ... *s* was going to haik that, but decided I couldn't face it ...
7 Jan, 2012
i have spent the day on here!!! nice day!!!
7 Jan, 2012
lol me too. it's been almost like real-time Instant Messaging. still, beats housework any day
7 Jan, 2012
definitely, i hate housework.
7 Jan, 2012
I'm trying to get my support worker to believe that I'm allergic to it .. not worked yet
7 Jan, 2012
wish i could try that one.
7 Jan, 2012
nah, it don't work!
*s* out of curiusity I went to Pim's profile to see how many comments there had been on this pic - there were 93 then, and this should make 94. Wonder who's going to tip the ton??
ok, make that 95 including this one!
7 Jan, 2012
you can find that out in the profile??
7 Jan, 2012
Fran..I am not STT... As if I care about doing the 100.. As if. 96 and counting
7 Jan, 2012
Sticki, you've been on the dreaded Google translation page again, haven't you? I've never seen anything on sale here labelled "Chutney". They make it up as they go along. The nearest that I can think of would be "Mostarda". Why do you ask?
Housework? What's that?
7 Jan, 2012
Just 1 more ;0)
7 Jan, 2012
i did i confess gattina but no answers this time. i dont know why pimpernel wants to know.
7 Jan, 2012
Is Mostrada...Mustard?
7 Jan, 2012
No, Senape is mustard.
7 Jan, 2012
Well that's 100 surely?
7 Jan, 2012
It is now.
7 Jan, 2012
for the pics, Sticki under each one is the number of comments and how many people liked it
and this one makes 105 - counting back, Sticki turned the ton
7 Jan, 2012
One momento Gattina while Sticki and I have a Spat.
Sticki you asked what Italian was for Chutney on Stt's last supper table? or am I wrong?
7 Jan, 2012
You feel free to spat away, P.
Erm, Fran, I don't get any running total of comments under the picture on my screen. What did I do wrong?
7 Jan, 2012
Lol...Thank you Sticki.
7 Jan, 2012
i did pimpernel, thats right ~ didnt know you had seen it.
7 Jan, 2012
that wasn't much of a spat... All eyes and ears me Sticki... Gattina, say nothing.!
7 Jan, 2012
sounds more like a policeman than a postman
7 Jan, 2012
btw gattina karensusans camera is a Lumix FZ38
7 Jan, 2012
they don't show when you click on a thumbnail, Gattina - only under the thumbnail in someone's photo gallery.
I think you get a "number of comments" and "likes" when you go into someone's blog but not their pics.
I haven't really made a study of this, so I satnd to be corrected. *s*
7 Jan, 2012
Why are we having a spat pimpernel?
