Having now seen the recipe ML, I have decided that I am not in need of any further book ends, which is what ended up happening to the last pastries I attempted making ;(
Thank you though!

That would be fantastic ML. I don't mind if you have to fill them full of preservatives.

Brilliant, Meadowland! They look scrummy, and aren't THAT difficult. You have to persevere, ladies - If I can do it, anyone can.
It took me ages to learn to make them, and then one day I discovered I could, and they've come our right ever since. I wasn't aware that I was doing anything different. Last time I did it, though, a visitor was offered the plate and took the top one (all piled up in a pyramid), and lifted the entire pile up - I'd managed to glue them all together with the chocolate!

Well I suppose Gattina it was better than going in from the bottom! lol. They look good enough to eat Meadow,Hahaa!

I helped to make a 3 ft Croquembouche for a birthday cake in june. Unfortunately it was drizzled with white chocolate, I hate white chocolate.

It was a very polite Italian friend of D's, so not sure what she made of it!
Unfortunately, I have an incredibly sweet tooth, and will be very happy to eat any white chocolate you are rejecting, P & ML. Dark chocolate, though, is the only way forwards on profiteroles.

Wow.... they look wonderful. What a talented cook your d-i-l is! Its always nice to have your food eaten up with enthusiasm. Those profiteroles look quite generously proportioned - I would have gone for the middle one too. Hope they were as lovely as they look!!

I have not braved making these yet and so yesterday I bought some from our Tesco (tiny and I thought, rather expensive...1 dozen in a pyramid for £2.40)...they were consumed in a flash (not all by my I hasten to add!!).
I'll have to bite the bullet and just have a go :)

A good tip for cooking choux pastry of any kind, Whistonlass, is to put a pan of hot water in the bottom of the oven while they are cooking - the steam helps to puff everything up. Send us photo of the finished product!
4 Jan, 2012
There you are Whistonlass a new challenge for a new year. Why not have a go - think how pleased youll be. Dont forget to put a picci on for us to see. GL!
