poor you Amy, looks pretty but hard work.keep warm :o))

That is a very long drive,Amy....Your binmen come and collect ? wow..everyone here has to take their own bins out on the pavements ,by their property...no way do they collect anymore,,whatever the reason..if you are old and infirm,it makes no difference.... not the binmens fault, this cost cutting..ah well,as long as the councillors can still have their perks eh ? ....hope your snow goes soon..lovely to look at on your pic,though..:o)

Thanks all ,it's looks pretty with the snow , I took the photo before we dragged the wheelie bin through the snow TT , Mushy it's not so pretty without the snow , San it was very hard work the snow kept piling up in front of the wheelie bin so that we had to keep stopping to clear it before we could drag it any further , they don't collect it from our house Sandra we have to take it up to where the other houses have theirs collected , I wouldn't be able to do it by myself , if my hubby happens to be away it dosn't get emptied ...

Doesnt it look lovely with no footprints.............

I didn't like to spoil it Maureen but it had to be done .......

Crikey thats one long drive Amy, amazed the bin men came, last year when it snowed we didn't have a collection for a month!!!!mind you if they'd gritted the paths it might not have been so dangerous.
Thank goodness they still collect here, my Mother in law lives with her sister and neither are very good on their feet, both being in their 80's, they have a sticker on their bin so the binmen know they have to collect from the house.

The stickers sound like a good idea Kathy , the problem here is that if a dustcart came down the drive they wouldn't be able to turn round to go back they would have to reverse or turn in our front yard, there probably is enough room but we wouldn't like them churning up the gravel at the front , I'm pretty sure they wouldn't put themselves out anyway , I asked them very nicely one week if they wouldn't mind coming down for the bin because my hubby was away they threw me a bin liner and said you will have to make do with that ! Grrr

Most of ours are quite good,Amy..but it just makes you worry when you are on your own,as lots are..I wouldn't have liked to drag mine down your drive, without help..pretty mean not to help you, when your OH wasn't able to do it..I agree about the stickers,a good idea...:o)..

Oh they don't bring the lorry in the drive Amy, wouldn't get it down mother in laws drive, one of the men actually fetch it and bring it back, mind you its not as long as yours, moan about them sometimes, but seems are bin men aren't all that bad compared to yours :-)

Lovely snowy picture but I wouldn't want to push a wheelie bin down there :) We don't have wheelie bins here just old fashioned dustbins still. I just leave the black bags outside and they take everything so long as they are asked. Sounds as if we are very lucky here.

The Dustmen who collect from your mums sound like the good old fashioned helpful ones Kathy , it's nice to know they are still around , you are lucky in that they take everything within reason Gill , one of the problems we have with having to take our bin up to where the cottages are is that if one of the residents has filled their bin to overflowing they will dump rubbish in ours , if it's the wrong kind the dustbin men refuse to take it and we would get into trouble ... :o(

I think our council,at least, are thinking of doing away with this ruling,Amy..and are also stopping the glass collection boxes,we get. That won't bother us,as we have a glass reycling bin nearby, and it takes us ages to fill a box anyway..so we share with a neighbour,at the moment..
Our binmen, take most things for our elderly neighbours..but I cringe at some of the stuff they put out sometimes, and expect them to take it...I think lots of people do what yours do,and put their stuff in other peoples bins..just too lazy to dispose of it properly..
7 Feb, 2012
A note was left on our bin once Sandra saying the refuse collectors wouldn't empty our bin because there was stuff in it that shouldn't have been in there, we have 2 wheelie bins 1 for recycling 1 for normal things they empty them on alternate weeks somebody had been putting any old rubbish in ours , My OH went up to the council offices to ask them to put it on record what was happening because apparently they could fine you anything up to a £1000 .. there was no way that we intended to take the blame for that !
7 Feb, 2012
We have the same rota as you,Amy..and they were going to fine a man ,for putting a few dead flowers from a vase,in the wrong bin!..There was just one stalk sticking out of a bin liner..petty,or what ? He contacted the local paper, with a photo of it,and public support for him was huge...It was when the rule first started ,so I think we were all a bit confused as to what went where..anyway,they relented..shows what some support and bad publicity does..:o)

isnt it awfull when people do things like using your bin, cant believe some people at all, we have been having fly tippers again in our village Amy, the contents of someones lounge in the field yesterday, unbelievable really, council did come out to collect it all though, but happening far to often :o((
7 Feb, 2012
It's all getting silly the majority of people do there best so why penalise us for the short coming of a few , we have a big campaign going on at the moment San in our Eastern daily newspaper they want people to take photos of rubbish that has been dumped to try to make someone take responsibility for it's cleaning up ,for instance someone sent in a photo of one of the Norfolk broads with litter piled up at one end ,nobody is owning up to it being their problem , they are talking about having it high lighted on TV to force someones into tackling it ... I think it's dreadful that rubbish is being dumped all over the countryside . :o( I wonder if it would help if young children were taken out on afternoon walks from school once a week for 15/30 mins to see how much rubbish they could pick up it might train them for later years ....

that's a long way Amy, but it does look very pretty..

Wow deep snow! Think you've had more than us Amy.....didn't know you had such a long drive, its beautiful! Shall you post us a pic in the spring and summer please.....
10 Feb, 2012
It's all spoilt now SL . we have run the car up and down , we can see the foot prints of the rabbits and muntjac deer ...
It's not our drive Janey it leads down to us and is for our use ,we have a double metal farm gate just this side of the Pampus grass , we keep it tidy Tony mows the grass etc. each side of the drive there is a field both are very overgrown with brambles nobody looks after them because they have been trying to get planning permission on them for the last 20 years , we hope they never get it we like being down here by ourselves ..... we are surrounded by the town but live in a little oasis of peace and quiet .... I took a photo last year of the Muntjac deer in the drive plus you can look out there at anytime of the day to see dozens of rabbits , we would miss it terribly if they built houses ... :o(
10 Feb, 2012
Sounds an ideal location Amy, lets hope it stays that way, its a slow time for developers too isn't it.......we have some linked starter homes near us, built about 4 years ago, very attractive design, but more than half are empty and unfinished, the developers went out of business. I'm going to see if you posted a pic of the Muntjacs......X

Just seen this Amy Nightmare with the bins, however, Gorgeous place to live. Fab photo.

They need to do a lot more renovation of old properties Janey , at the end of this track is a huge old maltings building it was working when we moved here but they have since moved over to their other site in a village leaving this building to become derelict it has been standing empty for a long time it would make fabulous flats ..
Thanks N3 hopefully we will stay this way for a long time ,I don't think either of us can stand the thought of moving but at the same time we wouldn't like it if they built a big estate round us ,we are use to the peace and quiet ........

A beautiful image Amy. :-)

A lovely snowy pic, but you can keep the snow, we had enough last year to keep us going lol
14 Feb, 2012
Thanks Angela , it's all gone today except for the odd patch , there's a pile of snow in Tesco it looks like a mountain that's going to take some time to melt :o)
