What a welcome sight at this time of year.

There are some lovely things flowering now Stroller. I am trying to appreciate them rather than just wishing it was summer! I just took a stroll around the garden and it was great to see yet another hellebore coming in to flower today. Shrubs are starting to break bud and clematis are growing nicely. Still not much sign of perennials, but they are under the mulch and will soon emerge!

Thank you Michaella. It is a very good one, in that it stands nice and tall and holds its flowers high. It prodces lots of flowers and then the leaves come later once the flowers are finished. Well worth growing. All these Harvington ones seem to be good strong and early flowering hellebores. I'm pleased I bought them....all except the double yellow, which was a poor weak thing and didn't do well at all. I don't even know if I still have it..no sign of it at the moment. I think I may have sacrificed it in the autumn when I was re-jigging the borders. It was a sad little thing with very disease prone leaves.

Recede!? lol. We got almost 2 more feet about 10 days ago. The up side is that it all looks sunburned now, crisp crags of ice along the southwest sides of the piles. Snow or not, the sun is back and our version of spring has begun. -6C as a high each day, still a faint glimmer of this winters -40 for two months. I don't know what the garden will be like this spring. Who survived.

(I still think a chilly day in Scotland is much colder feeling than our 30% humidity, no wind weather.)

Yes, I can believe that GT, but i've never experienced cold like yours and I don't think I ever will! Thank goodness it's spring! Welcome back!
